Haverfordwest County 3 – Briton Ferry Llansawel 0

Danny Williams bagged a brace and Elliot Scotcher found the back of the net to give Haverfordwest County their third league victory in a row at the Conygar Bridge Meadow.

Lee Trundle featured with three assistsThe final score line was rather ‘flattering’ suggested Bluebirds manager Sean Cresser.

“I’m happy with the result and the performance,” said Cresser. “The score was a little flattering, but I’ll take that result every day of the week.”

Cresser says that Briton Ferry Llansawel are a top four or five team in this league, so to win so comfortable at the final whistle pleased the Bluebirds boss.

Jack the lad

“Jack Wilson made a big difference when he came on. At that stage the visitors was tiring and Jack came on and played with high energy levels and vigour which caused their defence no end of problems,” added Cresser.

Elliot Scotcher was on target with the third goalWilliams opened the scoring in the 39th minute, the striker latching onto Lee Trundle’s clever through ball and the youngster showed excellent composure to slot his shot past the advancing former Bluebird Conah McFenton.

With the very next attack the visitors could have equalised when Gavin Jones’ powerful header was tipped onto the crossbar by Steve Hall.

Hall pulled off a number of good saves during course of the game; he’s a goalkeeper who is definitely growing with confidence, match by match.

Late goals

The homesters added a second goal in the 80th minute, an instinctive pass by Trundle put Williams clear and he picked his spot past McFenton.

With three minutes remaining, Trundle again assisted as midfielder Elliot Scotcher got inside the box and smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

Next Saturday Haverfordwest County go to Bridgend Street to play in the Welsh League Cup, last season they drew 5-5 with them - and then lost the tie on penalties, Cresser’s men will be hoping to erase that embarrassing cup exit memory with a win this time.
