Neyland blow the title chase wide open

Simon Cole top scored for Cresselly, but he finished on the losing teamCresselly (170 for 9) lost to Neyland (172 for 6) by 4 wickets

Umpires: Steve Blowes & Les Hastings
Scorers: Teagan Cartwright & John Laugharne

There was high drama in the table-topping clash between Cresselly and Neyland before the visitors bounced back to something like their best form as they won by four wickets, and in doing so threw open the top of the table race between these opponents and Haverfordwest.

Neyland made a terrific start as the home side were reduced to 43 for 5 despite having what is generally-considered to the best batting line-up in the county and it was their talented all-rounder Nathan Banner who featured in all those five dismissals as he grabbed two wickets, including the prized scalp of Dan Cherry for a single, plus three good catches to help Henry Durrant take 3 for 38 at the other end.

Andrew Miller (2 for 41) and Nick Koomen (1 for 25) were also wicket-takers for Neyland but Simon Cole came in at No 5 for Cresselly and showed what a fine batsman he still is with 11 boundaries in his undefeated 77 as Adam Chandler (16), Alex Bailey (23) and Mike Shaw (12) also produced minor roles.
Neyland were eager to have a batsman build a big individual score but in the final analysis it was their all-round batting skills which saw them home against Dan James (1 for 22), Ryan Lewis (1 for 43), Mike Shaw (1 for 41), Dan Cherry (1 for 23) and Tom Arthur (1 for 21).

Paul Murray (29), Nick Koomen (25), Andrew Miller (run out for 37), Paul Miller (10) and Henry Durrant (20 not out) all contributed before skipper Sean Hannon was appropriately there at the end to help steer his team to a big win indeed!

Lewis back to lead Lawrenny home

Burton (142 all out) lost to Lawrenny (143 for 8) by 2 wickets

Umpires: Richard Scriven & Richard Merriman
Scorers: Dennis Venables & Malcolm Thomas

Luke Hayman is stumpedLawrenny were without several key players for their visit to Oatfield Park but still came away with a two-wicket win as Steve Lewis returned to first-team action with a classy 71 that was a key factor in their success.

Burton had skipper Richard Jones with a quick 40 alongside other cameos from James Davies (29), Robbie Neil (27) and Jonathan Venables (14) but with Lawrenny utilising six bowlers no-one was able to build a big score against Rob Williams (2 for 36), Ryan Morton (2 for 14), Ian Jenkins (1 for 18), Brad McDermott-Jenkins (2 for 31), Simon Cole (1 for 23) and Jack Tucker (1 for 9) so they had to settle for a score of 142 all out at tea-time.

Luke Hayman (2 for 34), Johnny Scale (3 for 16) and Jack Davies (3 for 16) all bowled well for Burton but with Lewis hitting 11 fours and three sixes, ably assisted by 44 from Steve Campbell (six fours and a six) and 13 extras as the next highest scorer when they reached their target in only 30 overs!

Town take victory at a canter

Haverfordwest (152 for 0) beat Johnston (148 all out) by 10 wickets

Umpires: Trefor Evans & John Williams
Scorers: Jayne Cole & Gracie Morris

Haverfordwest eased their way to a comfortable ten-wicket win over basement battlers Johnston on The Racecourse after the visitors did well to reach 148 all out after limping to  67 for 7 before a last-wicket stand of 51 between Hafiz Farooq (ten fours in his 65) and Emma Summon (8 not out) somewhat revived their fortunes.

Archie Thomas (2 for 20) and Simon Holliday (4 for 16) caused the damage as Lewis Rhead also celebrated his first wickets in the top echelon with a supporting 3 for 57 before Lee Summons rounded things off against his former team-mates with 1 for 5.

The Town gave ‘Doc’ Holliday a rest from opening after scoring 902 runs so far in the league this campaign and openers Dai Davies and Ben Field enjoyed the chance of some batting practice as Davies stroked 15 fours and a six in his unbeaten 92 and Field supported with eight boundaries in his 50 not out as they reached their target in only 15.1 overs.

Kilgetty win a massive run chase at Pill Parks

Llangwm (297 for 7) lost to Kilgetty (303 for 2) by 8 wickets

Umpires: Arthur Brady & Dave Bonner
Scorers: Janice Brick & Hazel Poole

Once again there were runs galore at Pill Parks as host club Llangwm set a huge target for Kilgetty to chase but a massive opening stand by Kurtis Marsh and Ross Hardy, who both claimed centuries, set Kilgetty on the road to success.

After losing two wickets by the time they’d reached 23 Llangwm battled back to reach their mammoth total of 297 for 7 thanks in the main to a partnership of 187 by Will Beresford and Matthew Kiff, the former contributing nine fours and four sixes in his 90, whilst Kiff smashed seven fours and eight sixes in his maiden century (105) for the club’s first team.

Phil Llewellyn (36) and Ollie Davies (33) also made useful contributions as Jack Parkinson (2 for 61), Ross Hardy (3 for 56) and Christian Phillips (2 for 51) toiled in the bowling stakes as anything loose was heavily punished.

It was thought to be a huge chase for Kilgetty but openers Kurtis Marsh and Ross Hardy settled in well and reached 187 before Hardy went for one big shot too many and departed with 11 fours and seven sixes to his name.

Christian Phillips (30) and Toby Poole (33 not out) also contributed well as Marsh eventually finished on a stylish 113 not out (18 fours and a six) as Kilgetty reached their target with eight wickets and over four overs still in hand and Llangwm rued early dropped catches!

‘Titch’ takes Whitland to big win at Tish

St Ishmaels (196 all out) lost Whitland (310 for 7) by 114 runs

Matthew Davies - superb 101 not out for WhitlandUmpires: Dave Brandon & Simon Richards
Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw & Ann-Marie Jenkins

St Ishmaels battled away against high-scoring Whitland but fell to defeat as they leaked runs with their bowling and were unable to find any consistency in their batting.

Whitland’s enormous score owed much to a terrific 101 not out by No 5 batsman Matthew Davies that included 14 fours and a six, ably assisted by Jack Bowen’s 58 (eight fours and two sixes), Wayne Howells (32) and Steff James (43) as Andrew Pawlett (3 for 62), Lennie Rees (2 for 57) and Andrew Williams were the Tish wicket-takers.

Dan Howells belted 73 (11 fours) for Tish and had some support from skipper Phil Cockburn (46) and Peter Bradshaw (32) but no-one else managed double figures against Steff James (3 for 34), Iestyn Scourfield (2 for 47), Matthew Davies (2 for 50), Jack Bowen (1 for 45) and Ben Harvey (2 for 45) as Whitland stay firmly in fourth place and Tish remain in the bottom four of the section table.

Division Two:

Skipper Harries leads Pembroke to victory

Whitland 2nds (118 all out) lost to Pembroke (224 for 6) by 106 runs

Umpires: Allan Hansen & Mervyn John
Scorer: Jenny Davies-Scourfield (Whitland)

Jack Harries - top performance by young Pembroke skipperPembroke’s recent run of disappointing form was halted with their excellent away win against Whitland 2nds, who remain firmly rooted at the bottom of the table as Jack Harries’s team create some space for themselves above the bottom two.

And it was Harries who joined his second lieutenant Barry Evans in leading the way as both batted well and Harries produced his best bowling performance of the campaign.

Evans (13 boundaries in his 83), Harries (nine fours in 47) and Phil Hay’s 42 (five fours and two sixes) provided the platform for Pembroke’s 224 for 6 as Stu Harries (4 for 65), Geraint Phillips (2 for 63) were the pick of the home bowling attack.

Hywel Bevan (50 not out), Ed John (20) and Connor Bowen (212) were the only Whitland batsmen in double figures as Harries claimed 6 for 60 alongside Rob Smythe (2 for 44) and Sam Davies (2 for 10) as Pembroke were clearly delighted to claim their third win of the campaign.

Llechryd earn the better of the draw

Llechryd (252 for 4) drew with Cresselly 2nds (208 for 8)

John Curran - runs and a wicket for Llechryd Umpires: Tony Waldeis & Rob Elliott
Scorers: Will Newell & Des Brace

Llechryd earned the bulk of the points for their home draw with Cresselly 2nds as they scored a large total of 252 for 4 and then kept the pressure on a strong visiting side with some useful bowling and good fielding.

Batting first, Llechryd looked really strong on their own pitch and John Curran (60) again confirmed his class alongside Rhys Beard (65 not out), Steve Smith (38), Andrew Fletcher (37) and Michael Carter (24) – whilst Sam Harts (1 for 43), Neil Gregory (2 for 54) and Matthew Lewis (1 for 67) were the wicket takers for Cresselly 2nds.

Phil Williams (47), Billy Kinnear (46), Matthew Webb (27), Mike Venables (24) and Scott Arthur (21) were the principal run-getters for Cresselly  but got out at key times to Peter Betterley (2 for 33), Graham Keen (2 for 25), Curran (1 for 49), Mike Godfrey (2 for 57) and Andrew Fletcher (1 for 30) so it was left to Neil Gregory to help hold out for the=e draw with a late 13 not out.

Richard Adams was top scorer for NarberthUmpires: Huw Davies & Gareth Brace
Scorers: Idwal Vincent & Kelly Williams

Narberth’s hopes of returning to the top echelon suffered a set-back as they lost their third match of the campaign; this time to a Haverfordwest 2nds outfit that are moving up to mid-table safety with the return from college of some of their players.

Richard Adams was again the top scorer for Narberth as they batted first, stroking a stylish 81 that contained 16 boundaries, assisted by Dan Hughes (33) and Lewis Hough (32) against useful bowling by Sanjay Gurong (3 for 45), Clive Tucker (2 for 35) and skipper Nigel Morgan (3 for 24).

Matthew Johns (4 for 37), Ben Hughes (2 for 48) and Loui Davies (1 for 40) were the pick of the Narberth bowlers but steady knocks by Nikhil Mathias (33), Sean Williams (29), Dan Cole (29). Jake Merry (23) and Sanjay Gurong (26 not out) steered The Town 2nds home in 40.2 overs.

Umpires: Denis Chiffi & Robert Ridge
Scorers: Claire Cox & Julie Davies

Shaun Whitfield - good bowling for CarewCarew increased their already considerable lead at the top of the division two table as they easily won at Stackpole and Narberth lost at home to Haverfordwest 2nds. Batting first, The Rooks reached a healthy 213 all out thanks to top-scoring Ian Sefton (41) and Ceri Brace (33 not out) as Marcus Adie (3 for 34) was the top Stackpole bowler.

Adie (27) also led the way with the bat alongside talented teenager George Smith (33) but with Tom Davies (3 for 42) and Shaun Whitfield (3 for 9) taking control Stackpole were dismissed for 128 and Carew were victors by 85 runs.

Seasiders look strong in third place

Saundersfoot (186 for 9) beat Hook (124 all out) by 62 runs

Umpires: Club umpires
Scorers: Adge John & Phil Griffiths

Saundersfoot continued their climb up the section table and are now in a position to pressurise second-placed Narberth after this comfortable win over Hook.

Phil Jones (39), John Mansbridge (27) and Sam Franklin (21) were the principal architects of The Seasiders’ decent score of 186 for 9 as Matthew Holder (3 for 39) and Aled Phelps (4 for 55) bowled well for the visitors.

Holder (22) also topped the Hook batting but found little solid support against Franklin (2 for 36), Tom Mansbridge (3 for 39) and a special 4 for 2 haul from Neil Powling which took The Seasiders to victory with relative ease.
