Cricket - Division 3 Round Up - 1st May 2021
Runs galore at Llandigige Fawr
More than 400 runs were scored at Llandigige as
Llanrhian got the better of
Johnston.
Away skipper Josh Hicks won the toss and elected to field, but The Cows proceeded to rack up 249-5.
Debutant Jon Strawbridge led the way as opener as he made 43, and No 3 Jack Jones hit 53, but it was Ben Jones who really added the impetus with 11 boundaries in his 70.
For Johnston, there was a wicket each for Mark Hicks, Keegan Codd, Gary James, and Chris Fitzpatrick.
The returning Lee Summons showed his class in the reply with 48, while Fitzpatrick (33) and Liam Boswell (26) also attacked, but Christo Arundel (5-23) and Daf Williams (3-20) ensured the visitors eventually fell short on 147 all out.
On the Lower Racecourse,
Cresselly 2nds got life back in Division 3 off to a good start by hitting 224-6 against
Haverfordwest 3rds. Scott Arthur led the charge with 96, and despite good spells from Kieran Williams (3-46) and Matthew Vaughan (3-38) the total was too much for The Town to chase.
Vaughan (13) top scored in a reply of 58 all out, as Sam Harts (5-11) did real damage and talented youngster Charlie Arthur took 3-23.
It was a low scoring game in
Laugharne as the home side edged
Llangwm 2nds. Carl Smith (26) top scored as the home team made 128 all out, with Toby Asson (4-41) bowling well for the visitors.
Asson then made 38 in the chase and Shaun Waller 15, but Smith (2-22), Tyler Reynolds (4-30), and Simon Davies (2-29) helped restrict the away side to 101 all out, to seal a 27-run win.
At
Narberth 2nds, newly-promoted
St Ishmaels 2nds kept their composure to notch a good win
Mike Johns (43) and Andrew Williams (33) batted well as the hosts posted 156-9, as Lennie Rees (2-29) and Thomas Williams (2-35) led the bowling attack.
Tish then got home with four wickets in hand, as Steve Hartley hammered a boundary-laden 63, and the experienced Steve Williams made 40 not out.
And there was a cracking contest in
Neyland, as their second XI edged out
Stackpole. The hosts made 201-9, as Welsh Disability international Callum Power starred with 83.
Josh Davies did his best to stem the tide with 5-20, and he then led the reply with a superb knock of 79 not out.
Alan Webster also made 42, but under 16 player Jack Johns (1-13), Aiden Rees (2-40) and Rodney Murphey (1-33) ensured Paul Miller’s men held their nerve as the visitors’ reply ended on 190-5.
