County U13s show real class

Pembrokeshire U13s (211 for 8) beat Carmarthenshire U13s (98 all out) by 113 runs

 
Pembrokeshire County under 13s showed what a talented team they are as they took on neighbours at Carmarthen Wanderers ground and won with ease as they batted, bowled anCounty U13s show real classd fielded better that their opposition.
 
The County U13s lost the toss and were put in to bat by Carmarthenshire U13s and Ollie Wheeler set about getting the team off to a good start, scoring 18 before being bowled in the 7th over. Early wickets continued to fall but Aled Phelps (32) put up a good fight at the other end, even more so when considering he injured his ankle early in his innings.
 

Superb Nikhil leads the batting attack

 
Nikhil Mathias joined Aled at the crease and the pair set about repairing the early damage. After Aled fell, John Mansbridge continued where he had left off.  John who was captain for the day, scored 27 but the star of the innings was Nik Mathias who brought up his first county fifty before powering on to finish on 81 not out off only 79 balls. Nik had 12 fours in his innings as he helped push the score on to 211 for 8 after 40 overs.
 

Carmarthenshire collapse against tight bowling

 
Carmarthenshire's reply started steadily but wickets soon halted their progress. G Brennan (11) and C Davies (17 not out) were the only players to get into double figures as Chloe Hood (3 for 14), Jack Blockwell (2 for 10), Tom Mansbridge (1 for 3) and Noah Davies (1 for 4) shared the wickets. There were also three run outs which were all ably carried out by Jack Scriven behind the stumps as Carmarthenshire finished on 98 all out.
 
A good all-round performance from Pembrokeshire Under 13s who have a T20 Festival at Llandyssul Cricket Club next Sunday to look forward to.
