Carys receives her Surf Life Saving Award

The Surf  Life Saving Wales Annual Presentation Evening was held recently at the Towers Hotel, Swansea, and Carys Thomas a sixth form student at Ysgol Y Preseli, was awarded Welsh Team International Honours for representing Wales in the 'Welsh Youth Team' at the Atlantic Games 2015.

Carys has been an active and loyal member of Newport Surf Life Saving Club since the age of seven and has represented the Club in local, regional and national Competition. Whilst attending the club she has had the opportunity to develop her life saving skills and has recently qualified and worked as a Beach Lifeguard on the North Pembrokeshire beaches.

She also trains with the top Performance Squad of Pembrokeshire County Swimming with the Lead Development Coach, Craig Nelson. She is one of the senior members of the squad and is a great role model for the younger swimmers. She started her competitive swimming at Fishguard Flyers Swimming Club and continues to be a proud member of her founder club.

Carys would like to say a sincere thank you to all those who have been part of her training throughout her development and is already looking forward to next season's ‘Still Water’ and ‘Open Water’ Competitions.
