Blues Seconds are awarded the Reg Jones Memorial Shield

Haverfordwest RFC’s excellent attitude to referees last season was recognised recently when the Blues received the Reg Jones Memorial Shield, awarded annually by the Pembrokeshire Society of Rugby Union Referees in honour of the late rugby referee of that name from St Davids.

Traditionally awarded to the second team in the county which best looks after referees, the presentation usually takes place at the end of a special match where that team takes on a Select XV – but unfortunately the match was postponed because of atrocious playing conditions.

It will now be played at a later date but in the meanwhile the shield was presented to Haverfordwest RFC in their clubhouse at Merlins Bridge.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Society was its chairman Tony Pratt (centre) to Graham Dalton (Hon Secretary), Dave McCallum (Capt), Stephen Morse (Player) and Shay Buckley (Haverfordwest committee).
