Goytre 3 – Haverfordwest County 2

Goytre came from behind to inflict Haverfordwest County’s first league defeat of the season at Plough Road.

The visitors took the lead when Steffan Williams was fouled inside the box; the midfielder duly took the opportunity to score with the resulting penalty.

Prior to the goal The Bluebirds created some decent chances through Joe Leahy and skipper Sean Pemberton who both went close, central midfielder Greg Walters also took a long range effort that the home custodian tipped over the bar.

Leahy saw his deflected shot just miss the target as the Bluebirds pressed, and they were good value for their 1-0 cushion at half time.

After the break, Goytre got more into the game and they levelled matters with a goal scored by Oliver Dalton.

That goal inspired the homesters and they took the lead when Luke Prosser pounced and matters got worse for the visitors as Gary Colbourne added a third.

The visitors pulled a goal back through Steffan Williams, his second of the match, but as hard as Sean Cresser and Tim Hicks’ team tried they could not net an elusive equaliser.
