Bluebirds lose out to first half strikes against the Steelmen

Wayne Jones will serve a two match touchline suspension Two goals in the first half sealed home victory for Port Talbot Town against Haverfordwest County in both teams final game of the season.

Bottom of the table Haverfordwest County are relegated, but the Bluebirds could still yet play in the Welsh Premier as Caernarfon Town have won the Huw Gray Alliance title and they don’t have a Domestic Licence, which they require to play in the Welsh Premier so can’t be promoted.

However, Cefn Druids are third in the table and if they finish in the top two then they will earn promotion as they have the required licence.

The Steelmen did not get their Domestic Licence so they are automatically relegated to the Welsh League Division One next season.

The Steelmen and the Bluebirds were both playing for pride and it was the homesters who finished their season on a winning note.

Marley Bishop-Wisdom broke the deadlock in the 11th minute; chasing a long through ball he struck an unstoppable shot that flew in the top corner.

Andy Dyer’s Steelmen doubled the lead in the 22nd minute, when former Bluebird Luke Bowen struck a low shot into the bottom corner despite Bluebirds’ keeper Craig Morris getting a hand to it.

No further goals in the second half, now the Bluebirds wait with baited breath to see if Cefn Druids can secure that second spot, if they do, then the Bluebirds are definitely relegated.

Haverfordwest County: Craig Morris; Ricky Watts; Spencer Williams; Sean Pemberton; Dale Griffiths (Captain); Tom Wellington; Greg Walters; Declan Carroll; Kieran Howard; Luke Borrelli; Jason Bertorelli. Substitutes: Sam Rodon; Nicky Palmer; Kristian Speake.
