Alec Colley Cup Quarter Final:

Haverfordwest 2nds (169 for 7) beat Lawrenny 2nds (97 for 9) by 72 runs

Umpires: Steve Blowes & John Williams
Scorer: Natalie Thomas (Haverfordwest)

Current holders Haverfordwest Seconds became the fourth team to reach the semi-finals of this season’s Alec Colley Cup as they maintained their hopes of a hat-trick in the competition with this comfortable win over their counterparts from Lawrenny.

Skipper James Morris elected to bat first and his team built a sizeable score despite losing early wickets through some injudicious shots, as Avron Roulstone led their batting and then joined his captain as the most potent bowlers as they shared seven Lawrenny wickets.

Roulstone struck three mighty sixes and five fours before he was out from the final ball of his team’s 20 overs for 50, assisted by Nitin Mathias (30), Sean Williams (17), Dan Field (21) and Ashley James (25 not out, including far and away the biggest six of the evening!)

Ryan Morton (3 for 29), Johnny Mathias (3 for 41) and James Phillips (1 for 62) were the Lawrenny wicket-takers but a final Town tally of 169 for 7 was a daunting one.

Lawrenny’s veteran batsmen Ade Harries (23), Steve Campbell (21), Andrew Cole (14) and skipper Chris Buckle (11) were joined by Morton (11 not out) but no-one was able to build a sizeable score as Roulstone (1 for 18) and Nigel Morgan (1 for 20) were joined by Ashley James (3 for 24) and Morris (4 for 29) in easing their side into the ‘Super Sunday’ semi-finals which will both take place at Kilgetty on the 26th July.

Other Quarter-Final results:

Narberth (112 for 6) lost to Whitland (157 for 5) by 45 runs
St Ishmaels (133 for 7) beat Cresselly (107 for 8) by 26 runs
Hook (105 for 3) beat Llanrhian (103 all out) by 7 wickets
