'Dock Boys’ bring home the silverware
Congratulations to the Pembroke Dock rink comprising Tudor Harries, Hugh Colley, Ken Edwards and Richard Jones (Skip) that recently won the Senior County Rinks final at Haverfordwest.
Playing against a strong Haverfordwest rink on their home green, the Dock boys led from start to finish in a titanic struggle, played in a great spirit, with Ken Edwards having an excellent game at third. But hard as they tried, ‘The Dock’ were unable to forge ahead and the scores were tied at 14-14 going into the last end.
It was certainly a tense time for the loyal band of Dock supporters as ‘Harford’ Skip, Roger Price, had two chances to win the game, but failed by the narrowest of margins, allowing ‘The Dock’ to lift the prestigious trophy by 15 shots to 14.
The trophy was presented to Richard Jones by County President, Richard O’Leary, and the triumphant four will now represent Pembrokeshire in the Senior County Rinks at the Welsh Finals to be played at Llandrindod Wells in mid-August.
