Bluebirds boss Wayne Jones disappointed with defeat at Goytre United

Goytre United 3 - Haverfordwest County 1

Goytre United finished strong to come from behind and secure a thoroughly deserved victory against Haverfordwest County on Wednesday evening.

Bluebirds manager was without the services of calibre players such as Elliot Scotcher, Leon Luby and the suspended Sean Pemberton and Ben Fawcett, the latter on international duty.

In a tight first half it remained 0-0 – the best scoring chance fell to the Bluebirds on the 25-minute mark. The visitors were awarded a penalty and the responsibility fell on the young shoulders of Jack Wilson and he duly blazed it over the bar.

Ten minutes after half time and the visitors opened the scoring in a free flowing second period. Good work by Scott Thomas set-up Steff Williams who clinically finished from close range.

Flurry of late goals

However, United responded with three quick fire goals in the last 20 minutes of the game, on target was Tom Walters, former Bluebird Dylan Blain header and Sam Johnstone wrapped up the points fpor United.

Haverfordwest County manager Wayne Jones: “We are missing a few players now and it shows. The boys tried their best and that’s all I can ask, but on the night Goytre United deserved it.”
