Alaric Jones powered home a late goal in vain for Haverfordwest CountyHaverfordwest County’s impressive six-game unbeaten run ended against Cardiff Met University who gained a slender victory in a highly entertaining five-goal tussle at the Cryncoed Campus.
The Bluebirds will feel bitterly disappointed to come away with nothing as Harry Owen gave The Archers a 1-0- cushion at half time, after the break Bluebirds’ substitute Danny Williams nodded home an equaliser, but the visitors’ hearts were broken as Eliot Evans bagged his side’s second, plus substitute Lewis Rees was on target with a third before Bluebirds’ substitute Alaric Jones got a late consolation for the visitors.
Visitors’ striker Jordan Davies picked up an early knock but was able to continue after treatment, minutes later the Met defence cleared a dangerous cross in the box by Jack Wilson.
Eliot Scotcher’s free kick in the box just needed a touch as it evaded everyone inside the box, The Archers found the back of the net, but it was ruled out for offside.

Archers take the lead

On the stroke of half time The Archers broke the deadlock when Harry Owen rifled a shot in the top corner, which Lee Idzi had no chance of stopping.
Bluebirds’ manager Nicky Hayen made three changes at the interval as Alaric Jones, Danny Williams and Kieran Lewis replaced Ryan George, Ricky Watts, and Alhagi Touray Sisay, respectively.
In the 55th minute Danny Williams drove a vicious strike over the crossbar as they tried to get on level terms.
In the 70th minute the visitors made another substitution as Henry Jones replaced Wilson; minutes earlier Ben Fawcett got his low shot away only for Alex Lang to make a routine save.

Danny levels matters

In the 71st minute the visitors levelled matters with a simple header by substitute Danny Williams who got on the end of an excellent Jordan Davies cross.
However, five minutes later The Archers regained the lead as Eliot Evans found the back of the net.
In the 88th minute The Archers went 3-1 ahead as Owen’s cross found Jones for a simple far post finish, a minute later Alaric Jones powered one home to give his side a lifeline, but they could not find that elusive equaliser.
Nicky Hayen’s Haverfordwest County outfit will look to bounce back to winning ways on Tuesday, 5th April when they entertain Aberystwyth Town at the Bridge Meadow Stadium, kick off is at 7.45pm.
