Merlins Bridge AFC kindly spread some Easter Egg cheer to Lynnefield Rest Home

Staff receive Easter eggs

Merlins Bridge AFC are doing their bit for the community during the current lockdown caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The club have been offering help and support to residents at Lynnefield Rest Home, which is located right next to the former pitch of the Wizards.

This week the club decided to purchase 30 easter eggs which were dropped off to residents yesterday.

"With the country in lockdown and residents only allowed out to do essential tasks and exercise we decided as a club we would like to try and help in the community," said club member Jason Chapman.

"Lynnefield Rest Home is directly behind our old football pitch in the Bridge where many a senior and junior game has taken place in the past - and hopefully in time this can happen again."

The home was contacted beforehand to ensure they were happy with the gesture and so the club could find out how many eggs to purchase.

"Hopefully we've helped brighten the spirits of all involved in the home. All the residents are completely locked in and have been for sometime - I believe 10 days before the rest of the country," added Chapman.

"All at Merlins Bridge AFC agree they do a fantastic job and we thank them as well as the rest of the key workers in this country right now."
