Manderwood Pembrokeshire football fixtures for Saturday, February 8th

Division 1 (2pm):
Clarbeston Road 3-1 Pennar Robins

A few weeks ago these two met at Bush Camp and Clarby won 3-0. Pennar should have learnt a bit from that but I envisage a similar outcome this time around.

Matthew Ellis and co are in good form, and there was another brace for Ben John on Saturday as they beat Narberth 4-2. Pennar came through a poor start to pull clear of danger but have lost their last three.

Momentum favours the home side here.

Fishguard Sports 4-2 Narberth

Two teams with different problems. Narberth are conceding too much, while Fishguard just aren't playing enough.

They've managed just seven league games and mumps put paid to their match last weekend, but they lie just a point behind their visitors on Saturday with six games in hand.

Narberth have lost four on the bounce but are likely to have one of their scorers on Saturday, Liam Price, available again with no local rugby scheduled.

But recent form favour another home win here.

Merlins Bridge 2-3 Hakin United

Old friends reunited at The Racecourse.

Hakin won the reverse fixture 3-1 and their 2020 form has thus far been pretty flawless. Bridge have dropped points in two of their four matches but did come back to beat Goodwick 3-2.

They have been light on defensive cover since Jordan Thomas left and with the usual suspects all scoring freely Hakin will want to expose that. Camron Thomas and Leon Luby have also been key thus season, as has the return of keeper Martin Langdon.

The Wizards have their own firepower though and in Joe Leahy, someone who can score from anywhere.

Goals, cards, handbags, expect the usual intensity. The Vikings will arrive five points better off in the table and slight favourites though.

Monkton Swifts 2-2 Goodwick United

Mumps messed up Goodwick's fixture last week, mass puddles messed up Monkton's.

Neither can dwell though ahead of another pivotal game as first faces third. A win for the Swifts would leave them seven ahead of their visitors and that's a big margin, even with the Phoenix Boys having played a game less.

Ben Steele has been in great form for the champions and as a unit they have kept momentum going from last season. Goodwick should have Matty Delaney back although may still be missing others from the mentioned mumps outbreak.

These two know plenty about each other now and like at The Racecourse, there will be plenty of bite to this. Both will be desperate to avoid defeat and I can see it ending even.

If not, I'll know about it on Twitter by 4pm Saturday.....

Neyland 1-3 Carew

There is no dressing up the Neyland result in Rhos - they blew a big chance.

4-2 up against 10 men a first ever West Wales Cup quarter final was in their grasp and to lose so dramatically would have been deflating.

The result leaves them with little to play for and this will be tough against a Carew side with 12 points from their last 12. Rob Scourfield and Jeremy Griffiths have a Senior Cup semi final to build towards too and their striker Scott Ferney has been on fire as late.

The same can also be said of Neyland's Jason Griffiths who had another hat trick in Neath, but it's The Rooks who have been more clinical of late.

Saundersfoot Sports 1-2 St Clears

Neither side has won this season. Neither side has had a better chance than this to get three points.

It's no secret both clubs are struggling for regular numbers but you'd think players would be up for this one.

St Clears have conceded 34 times in three games and remain on zero points. The Saints have had two draws and were more competitive in their last match at Neyland, losing 2-1.

Paul Hodges has fired in three free kicks for the Sports since Christmas but via the likes of Sean Seymour-Davies I fancy the visitors just about have the edge going forward.

Whatever happens, it should be hard fought and tight.
