Football league and cup action is back with a bang

There was a finally a full programme of league and cup fixtures played on Saturday afternoon.

Starting in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division, there were six games completed.
Carew crushed Narberth 4-1 at home, The Rooks’ goal scorers were Scott Ferney with a stunning hat-trick and Jordan Richards, in reply for The Bluebirds Chris Brown scored a consolation.

Clarbeston Road won 3-2 at home against Pennar Robins. Finding the back of the net for Clarbie were Jason Griffiths, Josh Wood and Steff Thomas, whilst Connor Roberts and Luke Phillips scored for the beaten visitors.

Hakin United routed Angle 11-0 at the Obs; there was a hat-trick apiece for strikers Nicky Woodrow and Justin Harding, plus one each for Daniel Armstrong, Brad Barrett, Ben Fawcett, Leigh Marchant and Craig Nicholson.

Milford United lost 1-2 at home against Lamphey. Lewys Tee scored for The Robins, but The Stags’ secured the points with goals by Jason Evans and Mike Davies.

West Dragons were thrashed 0-5 at home against Monkton Swifts - as the score line suggests The Swifts dominated and were rewarded with a brilliant hat-trick by Patrick Mcdonagh and a brace for James Russell.
The game at the Athletic Ground saw Nayland draw 0-0 with Herbrandston.

In the rearranged West Wales Intermediate Cup quarter finals there were feelings of joy and sorrow for two Pembrokeshire teams involved.

Goodwick United won 2-0 against Ystradgynlais to reach the semis. Second half goals by Jordan Griffiths and Matty Delaney sealed The Phoenix Lads’ fate. Goodwick will now play Carew in an all Pembrokeshire  semi-final which will be played on Tuesday, March 20th at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium. The winners will earn the right to play at the Liberty Stadium in the final.

There was heartbreak for Merlins Bridge who bowed out of the competition after disappointingly losing 2-1 at Bwlch Rangers.
