There were five matches played in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League on Saturday.

Third placed Carew gained a dramatic 3-2 victory against league leaders Monkton Swifts. The Swifts’ lead at the top has been cut to four points as the title race is getting interesting with Merlins Bridge, Carew and Goodwick United all in the hunt. Ben Steele and a James Russell penalty were the Swifts’ scorers, but the Rooks sealed the precious points thanks to goals by Alex Bailey, Sam Christopher and Jack Christopher.

Hakin United hammered Narberth 5-1 at the Obs. Starring for the Vikings was Nicky Woodrow who bagged four goals alongside a solitary Shane Walsh effort. Jordan Williams netted the Bluebirds’ only goal.

Merlins Bridge narrowly beat Clarbeston Road 1-0 at the Racecourse. Substitute Nathan Greene came of the bench to score and rescue three important points for the Wizards.

Pennar Robins won 4-2 against St Clears at Bush Camp. Grabbing the goals for the Robins were Ben Adams 2, Nick Willis and Danno Kitts; Steve Thomas netted two for the Saints.

Saundersfoot Sports lost 1-5 at home against second in the table Goodwick United. The Phoenix Lads’ goals were shared by Scott Delaney, Jonny Horgan, Rob Morgans, Llyr Tobin and Rhys Dalling. Nick Cope scored a penalty for the Sports.
