Angle goalkeeper Euan McDonald was the toast of his under 14 colleagues in the south-county village side as his penalty saves helped them beat a determined Milford United outfit who started out as favourites but trailed 2-0 at half time.

The young Robins had beaten Angle by 4-0 at home and by 7-1 in their away fixture at Angle, who caused something of a surprise as they took a 2-0 interval lead and it seemed that they were on their way to success thanks to good goals by midfielders Owen Davies and Kieran Smith.

Milford United had beaten a very strong Tenby team in the semis and whatever their coach Steve Parkes said at half time had them looking strong and they drew level as centre half Max Howells fired in a long-range shot and Callum Stannett glanced a Sam Houston free kick into the corner of the net to put the Young Robins level at full time, having other chances and also hittng the woodwork.

United also looked to have the edge in terms of possession throughout a goalless extra time but Angle deserved great credit for the way they defended to set up that nervy penalty shoot-out, organised well by coaches Andrew Thomas and Adrian Davies.

It seemed as if the Young Robins might hold the edge as Angle missed their first penalty but they then found the net via Aaron Parsley, Kieran Smith, Owen Davies and David Clive – and when McDonald made his vital save it meant that he was engulfed by delighted colleagues  who celebrated their narrow win in style!
