Kilgetty played really well to cause a huge upset in the semi-final but to win this one might just be a step too far because I watched Hakin beat Merlins Bridge 4-0 in midweek and they are so strong. The last time The Vikings played a second division team in the final they won 7-0 but Kilgetty won’t give them an inch and in Lloyd Hughes they have a proven goal grabber.

The form book definitely says Hakin but Kilgetty certainly ripped that up against us in the semi-final – and will be full of confidence after gaining promotion. But they need a positive start because if Hakin get on top then they will press home their advantage, and I expect them to do so.

It’s very much a David versus Goliath and of course my heart wants Kilgetty to win, especially since they are our neighbours. But my head rules because Hakin are such a good team and I have to go for them.

Robbie Beynon and his lads have had a cracking season and have Lloyd Hughes as a potent threat. That said, Hakin are a dominant force and my old pal Scottie Davies is doing a great job and will have his troops prepared. I expect a highly competitive match but Hakin’s experience should come through in the last 20 minutes.

It’s a very special day for both clubs and I hope they enjoy themselves; players, officials and spectators at such a good venue. Kilgetty sprung a big semi-final win over Carew and relish their underdog status – but Hakin have the experience of playing at a higher level and of having been there before.

I’ve always been a big fan of underdogs and this could be the year of the underdog in the Senior Cup Final. There’s no doubt that Hakin are a good side and are hot favourites but Kilgetty gained promotion and dumped out Carew in the semi – and they can go to enjoy the day out with little pressure on them. Hakin should win on paper but the pressure will be all on them!

Scorecast: Hakin United 1 Kilgetty 2

Kilgetty have done really well this season to gain promotion and reach the Senior Cup Final but we played Neyland in the league recently and lost to them in the semi-final so know just how strong all-round they are. I expect Kilgetty to start like wild-fire but there are big spaces to fill on the Bridge Meadow which I expect Hakin to exploit to the full.

I expect Hakin to win because we all know how good a team they are – but I think in could be by the odd goal. We’ve got a decent side but Kilgetty stuffed us twice in the league. They will be disappointed to miss out in the Second Division Cup and so will be fired up here and might grab the early lead – but I think The Vikings will still come through!

A lot in the final depends on how teams settle at The Bridge Meadow – and there is no doubt that Hakin have very experienced players who can swing a game. Kilgetty also have proven goal scorers but I still think it is Hakin’s for the taking.

Hakin United have to start as hot favourites because of their strong squad and huge experience, with some having played at a higher level. Kilgetty are underdogs but that’s no bad thing in a final because they can go there and enjoy is having already gained promotion. Ashley Bevan would be my key man for Hakin – he’s a big match player!
