The annual Pembrokeshire Schools’ disability swimming gala was held at Fishguard Leisure Centre on Wednesday in partnership with Sport Pembrokeshire and Disability Sport Wales.
 
Over 40 pupils from Pembroke Dock Community School, Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Hakin Community School, Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Portfield School, Mary Immaculate School, Cleddau Reach VC Primary School and St Dogmaels School competed in 22 races. 
 
Ann Adams started the races assisted by Bob Adams, and nine pupils studying PE at GCSE level at Ysgol Bro Gwaun acted as timekeepers.  
 
Cllr David Lloyd presented all competitors with medals, which were sponsored by Stena Line, and was very impressed with the enthusiasm and conduct of the swimmers. 
 
Disability officer Angela was delighted
 
Angela Miles, Disability Sport Officer for Pembrokeshire, said the gala was a success. “I was delighted with the standard of swimming,” she said. “It was also great to have three new schools entering for the first time this year in Mary Immaculate, St Dogmaels and Cleddau Reach.
 
“If any other schools are interested in entering next year, they are also very welcome.”
 
Schools were also given information regarding the Pembrokeshire Puffins disability swimming club, which is held every Sunday at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.
