Runners up Hook U11sLawrenny are the county’s under 11s champions after beating their counterparts from Hook in a match which was a great credit to the players, coaches and supportive clubs.

This year’s final was between the top two sides from both Zone A&B  and was a repeat of last year’s final, with both teams coming through the group stage with a 100% record before Hook beat Whitland in the semi final and Lawrenny overcame Kilgetty.

Hook bat first but find runs hard to come by

The Under11’s game is played in a pairs format, with 200 runs to start and runs scored added to that, but with runs deducted for each wicket lost, and  Finley Lewis (captain of Lawrenny) won the toss and asked Liam Miller,  his counterpart from to bat first.

The Lawrenny team all bowled extremely well with very few loose deliveries   and although the Hook side only lost 3 wickets they found runs hard to come by. Liam Miller (13) and Oscar Willington (9) top scored whilst Lawrenny had excellent figures from Rhys Daly (1-0) Finley Lewis (1-4) and Connor Davies (1-13) took the wickets.

It was always going to be a big ask to defend this total and all the Hook bowlers tried their best but on the night they found Lawrenny in scintillating form as an explosive start from Rhys Eynon (11) and Connor Davies (12) laid the platform. The stroke making continued in the middle overs with Noah Williams (10), Oscar Lewis (9), Rhys Daly (8) and Harry Morgan( 9) before the final pair of Ollie Arthur (4) and Finley Lewis took Hook to victory, with  Finley rightly celebrating his being the latest boy from Pembrokeshire to gain a Welsh cap with an incredible 31 in the last partnership.
