Burton (174 for 9) beat Carew 2nds (120 all out) by 54 runs

Umpires: Richard Merriman & Richard Scriven
Scorer: Dennis Venables (Burton)

A solid all-round performance by Luke Hayman helped Burton to a comfortable victory against Carew Seconds at Oatfield Park as he  batted well alongside a number of his colleagues in taking them to a useful score of 174 for 9 after being 115 for 7 at one stage – and then claiming four wickets after tea.

Hayman (23), skipper Richard Jones (16), James Davies (22) and Jonathan Venables (17) were followed by a top score of 40 from Phil Sutton and an unbeaten 20 from Will Ridge against the bowling for Carew of Che Thomas (2 for 7), Harry Cook (2 for 47), Jacob Knox (2 for 15) and Joel Read (2 for 41).

But after tea only Luke Hicks ever looked really settled as he scored 45, whilst Dai Rees (16), Joel Read 15 and Dafydd Bevan (14) also managed double figures for Carew - but Hayman’s excellent haul of 4 for 24 was supported by Gavin Campbell (3 for 15), Morgan Scale (1 for 27) and James Davies (1 for 29) as Burton leap-frogged the opposition and into the section’s top three!

Llechryd (238 for 5) drew with Stackpole (178 for 9)

Scorers: Laurence Harries & Claire Cox

There were runs galore at Llechryd as the home side were put in to bat and scored a powerful 238 for 5 before Stackpole showed real grit as they batted well to achieve a draw.

For the homesters there was good batting by Michael Carter (72), Ollie Roberts (50), Andrew Fletcher (40) and Leighton O’Connor (36) as Simon Bevan (3 for 65) and Yori Roberts were the pick of the Stackpole bowling attack.

Bevan showed his all-round ability as he also batted well for his 45 in support of skipper Richard Mackay (56) against tight bowling by Graham Keen (5 for 36) and O’Connor (4 for 44) – but Llechryd were unable to snatch that vital last wicket and so had to settle for the lion’s share of the draw points.

Kyle kills off Harford hopes

Narberth (266 for 6 Dec in 33 overs) beat Haverfordwest 2nds (120 all out) by 146 runs

Umpires: Tony Scourfield & Tony Waldeis
Scorers: Emma Richards & Natalie Thomas

Kyle Quartermaine - man of the match performanceNarberth showed that they had recovered from defeat the previous week with a comprehensive victory over a depleted Haverfordwest Seconds outfit where they amassed a huge score in only 32.5 overs and then shot out The Town Seconds for only 120 runs.

Aaron Keane was clearly in a hurry as he launched Narberth towards their 266 for 6 declared total by smashing ten fours and five sixes in his splendid 84 and when he was out the intense pressure on the Haverfordwest Seconds’ bowlers was maintained by Kyle Quartermaine, who top scored with a top-notch 87 that included five fours and five sizes, with cameos by Jordan Howell (16) and Richard Adams (12).

Town skipper Simon Williams battled hard for his 3 for 53 haul and other wicket-takers were Dean Flood (1 for 41), Warren Evans (1 for 57) and Jake Merry (1 for 43) before the assault by the Narberth batsmen was ended in the 33rd over to give Haverfordwest 57 overs to chase such a huge score.

But they lost wickets at regular intervals as Kyle Quartermaine showed his all-round talents with 4 for 24, assisted by Lewis Hough (3 for 23), Ben Quartermaine (1 for 5), Ben Hughes (1 for 16) and skipper Jordan Howell (2 for 11), with only Filgi Varghese (37), Max Rodriguez (11) and Colin Williams (16) managing double figures for the visitors.

Seasiders win well as Cope just misses deserved three figures

Saundersfoot (190 for 7) beat Llanrhian (187 for 8) by 3 wickets

Umpires: Huw Davies & Neil Croucher
Scorers: Adge John

Nick Cope - cracking 99 not out for SaundersfootA wonderful innings of 99 not out from Saundersfoot’s Nick Cope ensured the home side battled back from the brink of defeat to win a cracking match with Llanrhian.

Cope struck eight fours and six sixes to guide his side home in the 40th over, after they had been 121 for 7 chasing 188 to win.

Llanrhian’s decent total was set up by opener Ben Jones, who hit five fours in his 31, No 3 Rhodri Owen (a four and to sixes in his 21), Matthew Bennett (six fours in his 30) and Tom Dunn (four fours in his 21).

But at 137-7, it was tail ender Rhys Price who really boosted the innings with a hard hitting 41 (five fours and a six), and he found decent support from Adam Phillips (15 not out) as he pushed his side up close to the 200 mark.

For Saundersfoot, skipper Sam Franklin took 2-52, Jonathan Mansbridge 3-43, brother Tom Mansbridge 2-42, and Neil Powling 1-29.

Openers Steve Cook (15) and Paul Mansbridge (31) got the home reply to a good start, although the latter then had to retire his wicket to leave for work purposes.

But Llanrhian took control thanks to spinner Owen, who took 5-38 in his 10 overs to put his team within sight of victory.

However, Cope had other ideas, and coming in at No 7, he found support from Gareth Edwards (11) and Ashley Murdoch (12 not out) as he turned the game on its head with some powerful stroke play – with the only downside being he fell just a single short of the century he richly deserved!
