Hicks leads Carew to top of the table

Haverfordwest (123 for 7) lost to Carew (129 for 6) by 4 wickets

Umpires: Dave Brandon & Dai Morris
Scorers: Jayne Cole & Julie Davies

Tim Hicks scored an influential 77 for CarewAn excellent innings of 59 by Tim Hicks after previous tight bowling by his Carew team-mates helped them gain a deserved four-wicket win over a much-depleted Haverfordwest side on The Racecourse, which takes them to the top of the table.

After Haverfordwest had been asked to bat first, Simon Holliday was once again the lynch-pin of their batting line up in difficult conditions and it took this prolific run-maker 41 overs to reach his 50 and he had 57 runs to his name before he was well caught on the boundary by Nick Scourfield as part of Shaun Whitfield’s excellent4 for 46 haul.

Iori Hicks (1 for 16) and Ceri Brace (1 for 15) were the other Carew wicket-takers as Nitin Mathias (16), Paul Tough (14) and Nigel Delaney (10) managed double figures for The Town.

Hicks then blasted nine fours and a six before he was bowled by Chris Phillips as part of a 3 for 19 spell by The Town bowler, assisted by Holliday (2 for 23); but Tom Scourfield (18) and James Hinchliffe (11 not out) helped take Carew over the line in only 31.1 overs to keep Carew very much in the early race for the title.

Kurtis keeps Kilgetty on the road to victory

Kilgetty (134 for 9) beat St Ishmaels (118 all out) by 16 runs

Umpires: John Williams & Robert Ridge
Scorers: Hazel Poole & Wendy Bradshaw

Kurtis Marsh - another excellent all-round performance for Kilgetty all-rounder Talented youngster Kurtis Marsh produced another excellent all-round performance to help Kilgetty beat St Ishmaels at Kingsmoor as he topped their batting performances and joined Anthony Bevan in taking four-wicket hauls to seal success.

Put in to bat first, Kilgetty had useful knocks by Kurtis Marsh (31) and Tom Lewis (27) alongside supporting cameos from skipper Ross Hardy (19) and Jack Parkinson (13 not out) as they ended up on 134 for 9 from their allotted 45 overs, with Andrew Palmer (1 for 32), Brennan Devonald (1 for 30), Danny Flynn (2 for 30) all bowling well in support of left-arm spinner Andrew Pawlett, who led the attack with a miserly 3 for 13 spell.

Tish top scorers were Johnny Pawlett (33) and Andrew Palmer (22), supported by Brennan Devonald (14) and Robbie Thomas, who defied a back injury to score 11 as Kurtis Marsh (4 for 32) and Bevan (4 for 18) were joined by Jack Parkinson (1 for 33) and Tom Richards (1 for 32) in helping Kilgetty stay in the top four in the section table.

Cresselly hold out for disappointing draw

Neyland (171 all out) drew with Cresselly (128 for 8)

Umpires:  Trefor Evans & Richard Merriman
Scorers: John Laugharne & Teagan Cartwright

Neyland gained by far the better of the draw against Cresselly; a disappointing result for the latter since it knocks them off the top of the table and allows neighbours Carew to take over there.

The main run-gatherer for the home side was Nathan Banner, who came in at No 4 and hit a six and six fours in his hard-hitting 57, supported by Paul Murray (11), Ashley Sutton (17), Nick Koomen (19) and Andrew Miller (22) alongside ‘Mt Extras’, with 26.

For Cresselly, Sion Jenkins sustained a leg injury in his short 1 for 4 spell, whilst Ryan Lewis grabbed 3 for 36 despite a bad back, whilst Neil Gregory (2 for 45), Dan James (1 for 24) and Simon Cole (2 for 51) were others to pick up wickets.

After tea Cresselly rarely looked settled against Nathan Banner (2 for 42), teenager Jamie Smith (2 for 27) and wily slow bowler Andrew Miller (4 for 27), as only Phil Williams (35) and captain Neilson Cole (31) stayed long, joined only by Iwan Izzard (11) and Matthew Webb (16) in reaching double figures.

Unfortunately, popular umpire Trefor Evans also sustained an injury during the match and all players in Pembrokeshire will wish him a speedy return to the game.

Lawrenny hold the upper hand in basement battle

Pembroke (115 for 7) drew with Lawrenny (223 all out)

Umpires: Simon Richards & Dave Bonner
Scorer: Chris Williams (Lawrenny)

James Buckle - top scored for Lawrenny at PembrokeLawrenny were well on top of Pembroke in this basement battle at Treleet but were unable to dislodge the later home batsmen so the game petered out into a draw, but with the visitors taking the lion’s share of the points.

Lawrenny’s big total owed much to their experienced players in their team as Steve Lewis (46) and James Buckle (54) led the way, with useful supporting knocks by Ryan Morton (33), Harry Thomas (19) and Joe Kidney (15) before they were dismissed in 43.4 overs.

For the home side, Sam Davies (4 for 53) and Jack Harries (2 for 33) bowled well, with support from Colin James (1-35) and Barry Evans (2 for 42).

Jack Harries (46) batted really well for Pembroke, supported by skipper Paul White (19) and newcomer Colin James (15) but they found runs hard to come by as Jamie Lewis (3 for 15) and Ian Jenkins (2 for 4) were the best Lawrenny bowlers.

Geraint’s great for Whitland

Whitland (226 for 6) beat Johnston (224 for 8) by 4 wickets

Umpires: Steve Blowes & Neil Croucher
Scorers: Ann-Marie Jenkins & Delyth Summons

A splendid innings of 124 by talented young batsman Geraint Jones helped Whitland chase down a big total set by Johnston, with exactly 100 runs coming from boundaries as he stroked 22 fours and two big sixes.

Dan Sutton had earlier followed his unbeaten centuries the previous two weeks with another cracking innings for Johnston where a third ‘ton’ seemed on the cards until he was caught by Dylan Blain off the bowling of Matthew Davies for 80, including a six and 13 fours.

Sutton shared a second-wicket stand of 108 with Lee Summons (five fours and two sixes in his 48; and Chris Fitzpatrick (41), Ross Dewstowe (21) and Lewis Boswell (16 not out) also made useful contributions.

Jonathan Thomas bowled his slow stuff to good effect for Whitland as he finished with 4 for 52 and there was a wicket apiece for skipper Iestyn Scourfield, Matthew Davies, Geraint Jones and Scott Newton.

Thomas also contributed 22 runs to his team’s cause before Matthew Davies (36 not out) and skipper Scourfield (10 not out) saw Whitland home to round off this entertaining tussle at Spring Hill.
