Danny Potter 34 Admin Manager
‘Potts’ has developed nicely into an astute captain who is always looking to utilise his bowling attack to its best potential and this will be his second final at the helm, having raised the Bowl aloft two seasons ago in his fifth final. He will be looking to play an influential role with his run-gathering as a stylish right-handed bat. Top score this season of 65 against Lawrenny but will pose a significant threat if he gets settled in.
Ben Field 37 Manager, Sport Pembrokeshire & Pembs Musical Services
The club’s vice-captain, who leads by example in the field, this will be Ben’s fifth final and he will be eager to make an impact in the early order batting with his stylish but aggressive stroke play. By his standards he has had a quiet season smashed six sixes in his recent 82 at Narberth and the opposition know that he will certainly be a danger man if he runs into anything like his best form.
Simon Holliday 43 Child Psychologist
Undoubtedly one of the team’s lynch pins, ‘The Doc’ has again amassed huge amounts of runs this season and taken more than his share of wickets with his slow left-arm stuff. Scored 25 and claimed 3 for 18 in the semi-final as well as terrific centuries against Carew and Llanrhian in the league. This will be his fourth final and says that his professional work is a great help in dealing with some of his colleagues off the pitch!
Gareth Davies 30 Dairy Farmer
‘Cadfael’ will be playing in his first final if he can find a relief milker on the farm – after many years of devoted service at Llanrhian. He is beginning to find his true form with the bat, with 31 vital runs – and has been a major influence as a left-arm spin bowler with plenty of wickets, often at key times in the opposing innings. Gareth is one of the real gentlemen in local cricket and a great asset for The Town in this final.
Dai Davies 31 Team Leader at BT Rail
One of the most experienced and talented players in the squad, this will be ‘Dapper’s’ seventh final as an astute run gatherer and occasional bowler who has the habit of pinching key wickets. He is one of the best fielders around and very quick between the wickets – and a very good midfielder in local football. If he finds his best form in the final he is likely to make important contributions in some way or another.
Dan Cole 20 Student
Dan is a terrific product of the club’s youth system who has played throughout his junior days for The Town, developed his real batting skills in the club’s other senior teams and is now showing his talents at first team level after returning home from university. Dan scored an excellent 33 at a vital time in the semi-final and followed up with 40 a few days later in a league match to cement his place in his first final.
Nigel Delaney 42 Labourer
Nigel will be playing in his third final as a solid middle-order batsman and excellent fielder who can often be seen making his best scores in matches where the chips are really down and some steeliness is required. He is a very good fielder and easily one of the top three indoor cricket players in the county - and the manager of the triple-winning Goodwick United football team that swept all before them last season!
Adam James 25 Managing Director
‘Jamer’ is playing in his fourth final and is arguably the paciest bowler on the local circuit at the moment - as his terrific haul of wickets pays testimony. He took 3 for 27 in the semi-final and his other figures in the competition include 5 for 2 and 5 for 7 – and recently hit six sixes in a league match at Carew to confirm his all-round status. Adam is also an amateur kick boxer and is a more than useful rugby player!
Huw Scriven 42 Production Technician
For many years ‘Scriv’ has been regarded as one of the best keepers ever in Pembrokeshire and a county regular who has very safe hands and the ability to stand up to the wicket for stumpings. Amazingly, this will be Huw’s 12th final and he still has the picture of the diving catch he took in one of them that many pundits regard as the best-ever in a final. He can also score runs in any late-order chase!
Adeel Khan 30 Dentist
Adeel came to the county with his work in Milford Haven as a dentist and has quickly settled in as an all-rounder who began with 91 runs for the fourth team and has since forced his way into the starting line-up where he is predominantly the third fast bowler who can also bat lower down if needed. He has quickly settled in and is already very much a member of the squad.
Josh Wilment 25 School LSA
Josh has been part of Haverfordwest’s twin-pronged pace attack this season but injury saw him miss several games. But he is a more than useful member of the squad with his ability to apply late swing to the ball, as he did with 4 for 37 against Narberth and 5 for 44 against Cresselly in a league match.
Nitin Mathias 20 Student
Another very talented young cricketer who led Haverfordwest to victory in the Ormond Youth Cup Final in 2013 to show what a good reader of the game he already is. Nitin is currently in university but is back with The Town for the rest of the campaign as a very stylish accumulator of runs who scored 44 in the league match against Llanrhian – and has featured in Alec Colley Cup wins as a bonus.
Sean Williams 23 Fabricator
Sean is an integral part of the Haverfordwest squad who can bat well and turn his arm over – and is certainly one of the best fielders in the side, as he proved when he was 12th man in the previous final the club played in. If he takes on that role in this final he certainly won’t let the team down!
