Beat the Expert - Week 2 : fixtures for 11th February 2012

The Expert leads by a slender point over Big Bernie

With all matches postponed last week The Expert finally took full advantage as all games went ahead this week to open up a slender one point lead over his arch-rival Bernie Armstrong. The final score line read 6-5 in the The Expert's favour and Bernie will surely be looking for revenge in round three. "Bernie knows exactly why he lost he don't need me to tell him," taunted The Expert. "All I will say to him is that he must not let his heart rule his head because otherwise he won't stand a chance of winning a tee-shirt."

Big Bernie is already

winding up our 'Mr Grumpy'!

Bernie ArmstrongBernie Armstrong is looking forward to testing his tipping skills against The Expert and the current Goodwick United manager who says he is the ace goal-grabber for the County Over 45s says that he was sorry the games were rained off last weekend because he could already be ahead.

This comment brought a snort of derision from The Expert as he thundered.

“How can he possibly say that? I see he is already panicking a little – NINE goals for the Bridge away? He’s in cloud cuckoo land!

“I can see I’m already getting inside his head and making him know that he just can’t beat me.

“To be honest, the ‘Mr Nice Guy’ stuff makes me all the more determined to beat him because I remember now that he kicked me when he was playing in one of his many clubs, when I only played for one because I was a loyal footballer.

“My mole at Armstrong Mansion, high on the hill overlooking Goodwick, tells me that he has been in a sweat over his forecasts again this week – and he was so busy picking out what he sees are winners that he almost missed his table tennis on Monday evening. What a state to get in – just for a tee-shirt!”

Big Bernie’s Forecasts:

Clarbeston Road 2 - Merlins Bridge 9
I think Merlins Bridge are due a big score but Clarbie Road will battle all the way and pick up a couple of goals.

Narberth 3 - Milford United 1
Narberth have found a bit of form lately so I think they will beat Milford United, especially with home advantage.

Neyland 1 - Hundleton 2
I went for Hundleton last week at home and now the fixture is reversed I still think they might be just to good for Neyland, but only by one goal.

Pennar Robins 1 - Goodwick United 2
I’ll stick with my forecast from last week, although I know that Pennar will push us all the way because they are a good side.

Solva 2 - Tenby 4
Again, I’ll stick with last week’s scoreline as Tenby should win on current form.

West Wales Cup – Round Four:

Giant’s Grave 3 - Hakin United 2
Giant’s Grave are top of the Neath Premier League and although Hakin are great cup fighters I think this might be too big a test for them.

Ystradgynlais 2 - Monkton Swifts 1
Ystradgynlais are second in the Neath Premier League so this is another massive test for the Swifts – and although they will battle all the way I think they will lose narrowly.

Johnston 3 - St Clears 1
St Clears look to be a useful side after beating Johnstown but Johnston are an experienced outfit and so I have to go with them.

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!”
