Fixtures 28th January 2012
(..to results page for these fixtures..)
Lots of wrong forecasts again last Saturday as clubs’ form went out of the window, especially with Whitland losing at Waunarlwydd and Tenby beating Cardigan (thanks for the e-mails lads!).
Worst of all was in Division Five (West) as I said Pembroke, Pembroke Dock Quins and Llangwm would win – and they all let me down.
So I can only aim to improve this Saturday – but you never know at the moment how things are going to turn out!
Division Three (West):
Cardigan v Newcastle Emlyn
Local derbies are always difficult to predict and this one is no exception because the Cardis have lost their last two games and Newcastle Emlyn beat Pontyberem 36-8 in their last match. Verdict: Emlyn won the previous match by 20-18 and I think Cardigan will gain revenge here.Penclawdd v Tenby United
Trips to Penclawdd are never easy, and the ‘Cocklemen’ are currently in fourth place after beating Pontyberem (away) by 17-13 last weekend. Verdict: Penclawdd won 15-3 at Tenby earlier in the season and I expect them to complete a double here – although Nick Guymer and Co would be delighted to prove me wrong again!Division Five (West):
Fishguard & Goodwick v Bynea
On paper this is the banker bet of the day as Fishguard entertain a Bynea side with a 100% loss record over 13 matches in the section. Verdict: The Seagulls should win this at a canter – and pouch a valuable bonus point into the bargain!Swalec Plate (Round Three):
Crymych v Haverfordwest
This is an intriguing clash between a Crymych side second to bottom is Division Two (West) and a Haverfordwest team riding high at the top of Division Three (West). Verdict: The Blues are a good side but I think the Preseli Men might just make home advantage pay!Swalec Bowl (Round Four):
Milford Haven v Aberaeron
Milford Haven will fancy their chances of moving into the fifth round since they are playing well in third place in Division Four (West) whilst their opponents are two places lower and with far fewer matches won. Verdict: The Mariners have already beaten Aber by 33-18 in a home league match and if they are at full strength here I expect them to win with a little in hand.
