Beat the Expert - Week 3 : Football fixtures for 25th January 2012
Daisy continues to pile on pressure
Daisy Picton has opened up an overall two-point lead as he once again beat the Expert 3-2 in a low scoring affair. Amazingly there were four draws in seven matches played in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League Division One. "How lucky is Daisy," said The Expert. "If he fell in cows dung he would come up smelling of Roses! I have it all to play for next week, but the way the results are going anything is likely to happen!"
Dynamic Daisy takes the lead!
There was no more delighted onlooker at the Milford Athletic versus Hakin United match in the Senior Cup quarter final than Daisy Picton because not only did the 5-1 win for his beloved Vikings ease them into a semi-final tussle against Solva but the bonus point for estimating the score correctly saw him take a one-point lead over The Expert after week two of their four-week battle!
After a single-point deficit from the first week, David Albert Isaac Samuel Yosser found himself 5-4 adrift but he was still super-confident that he could beat our resident Expert – and told us today that he was absolutely sure he would stay ahead of our resident ‘Mr Grumpy’ right to the end. He was even cheeky enough to suggest to The Expert that when Hakin reached a 5-1 scoreline he had suggested to their manager that no more goals should be scored – but we know what Gary Dawes’ answer would be to that!
There were groans from those keeping an eye on Daisy’s progress at Hakin’s headquarters (and his pals at Manderwood’s) when they heard our little petal had taken the lead because they know he does tend to harp on a little about how good he is – in fact he doesn’t bloomin’ well stop! As he told us that he was the best tipster in Pembrokeshire Football he pulled himself up to his full five feet height and puffed out his little sparrow chest, so confident is he!
Our resident ‘Mr Grumpy’ was still typically up-beat when he told us,
“Daisy now feels that he is bound to win and they say that pride comes before a fall – and this could be of Mount Everest proportions. Roll on Saturday evening and we’ll see if Tulip is still full of himself then!
“My mole in his camp tells me that the whole family have bought cotton wool for their ears – but they won’t need it for long!”
Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!”
