Beat the Expert - Week 2 : Football fixtures for 14th Janaury 2012

Diddy Daisy beats The Expert to lead way

Daisy Picton beat The Expert 4-2 to take a slender overall 8-7 lead after the second week of predictions. It was a low scoring affair with some strange results. But was this result fair and square? Daisy claims he used his full ‘Flower Power’ to predict his team Hakin United winning 5-1 at Milford Athletic in the Senior Cup. "Strange how he got that correct scoreline," said The Expert. "I can’t trust him as far as I can throw him. He’s a Hakin lad through to the core and I hope he is not resorting to cheating. From past experience when you fight one Hakin lad you fight the lot!"

Week three and four will be interesting as to who will finally come out on top. Make sure you follow is this intriguing battle right till the end! There is sure to be plenty of highs and lows along the way!

Daisy's determined to claw his way back

Daisy PictonDaisy Picton was convinced that he would easily account for The Expert in their punditry challenge but after a first week our little flower finds himself 5-4 adrift – but still super-confident that he can beat our resident Expert.

Our resident ‘Mr Grumpy’ was typically up-beat when he told us,

“I knew that our little flower would try to get off to a flier but he’s got an uphill task now. This week sees four tricky league matches and the Senior Cup quarter-finals and our mole in the family told us that he was very busy studying form to such an extent that he only watched the last 15 minutes of his favourite team Manchester United beating Manchester City.

“He’s also got his football shorts in a twist about whether we are forecasting the result after 90 minutes, extra time or after penalty shoot-outs so I think we have agreed that the Senior Cup quarter-final forecasts are for the result after full time, and before any extra time or anything else! No doubt he will make some fuss or another but it won’t matter in the least!

“I have also taken pains to find out why he is always called ‘Daisy’ and discovered from our mutual pals at Manderwood that it is because his first names are David Albert Isaac Samuel Yosser  and so his team mates made an acronym of those initials – and he’s been a little flower ever since!

“My mole in his camp tells me that our diddy little pal spent two hours in the bath with his fixture list, pencil and paper – and whilst he is now probably the cleanest he has ever been in his life he still isn’t going to win against me!”

Diddy Daisy’s  Forecasts:

Division One:

Clarbeston Road 2 - Milford United 2
It is difficult to decide who is going to win here because their form is unpredictable – So I’ll sit on the fence and go for a draw!

Haverfordwest County 1 - Goodwick United 2
Goodwick look as if they have found a bit of form again so I’ll go for an away win – but it is sure to be close!

Johnston 3 - Hundleton 2
Another tough decision because Hundleton gave us a real shock last weekend – but I’ll go for home advantage counting in a tight match.

Pennar Robins 3 - Narberth 1
The Robins are a good side and I think they will win at Bush Camp.

Senior Cup Quarter Finals:

Merlins Bridge 3 - Herbrandston 1
The Bridge are a good side and although Herbie are battlers I still think the Bridge will be in the semi-final draw.

Milford Athletic 1 - Hakin United 5
We need to wake up to the fact that we have to do more than just turn up to win – and we should be too strong up front for the Athletic.

Monkton Swifts 2 - Tenby 2
The Swifts are in good form but so are Tenby – so I think it will be all-square after 90 minutes!

Solva 3 - St Ishmaels 2
Tish are capable of beating anyone on their day so it will be interesting to see how they play in Solva – but I think Solva will be a little too experienced for Tish and know their ground so well!

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!”
