Ben Stone receives a special consolation prizefrom Bill Carne
Ben Stone was understandably disappointed to lose his challenge to ‘Beat the Expert’ on PembrokeshireSport.co.uk because he took an early lead and really believed he could outwit our highly experienced resident pundit.
He had really set his heart on winning our ‘I Beat The Expert’ tee shirt because he saw it as a fashion statement he could wear on his next tropical beach holiday to keep the strong sun off his delicate English skin.
Even the Expert, clearly warmed by his roast turkey and Jack Daniels whisky on Christmas Day, felt a little sorry for him and so PembrokeshireSport.co.uk, with the kind help of Steve and Naomi Joseph, of West Coast in Haverfordwest and Milford Haven, commissioned a new tee-shirt with the word ‘almost’ inserted into the legend on the front of it.
We asked The Expert if he would come along to Radio Pembrokeshire and present the consolation prize to Ben, who is their programme controller and presenter, but our resident ‘Mr Grumpy’ was adamant that he wasn’t going to waste expensive diesel on a 30-mile round trip to Narberth.
“He’s very lucky to be receiving such a much-wanted prize,” grumbled The Expert as his Christmas bonhomie quickly vanished out of the window, “he should be coming to the county town and bringing some sort of reciprocal gift to me, like new slippers or dressing gown!”
Be that as it may, PembrokeshireSport.co.uk’s Bill Carne popped in to present Ben with his tee-shirt and our picture shows a delighted Mr Stone sporting his special new ‘I ALMOST Beat The Expert’ tee shirt – and very smart he looks, too!
