Special treat for Jac as Quins youngsters enjoy a special day out
Two busloads of junior players, their families and friends left Bierspool as Pembroke Dock Harlequins set off for a real treat at Parc y Scarlets prior to the recent Heineken match against Munster which was watched by a crowd of 13,000.
The under 8s provided a treat for rugby supporters as they played on the hallow turf and coach Liam Smith was understandably delighted to lead them out onto the pitch at half time.
The under sevens, well looked after by Jeff Newman and Sarah Lewis, took on the likes of Tenby and Aberystwyth in the barn prior to the start of the big match.
There was an even bigger treat for six year old Jac Lewis because he had the undoubted honour of joining several other youngsters in being mascots for the match and was very proud to walk out onto the pitch with Dan Newton, the well-known Scarlets’ player from Whitland.
He was understandably delighted and so were the rest of the talented Quins junior players – who enjoyed what one parent described as ‘the treat of a lifetime!’

Quins’ juniors take
on another marathon
Following the success of the Quins’ marathon cycle challenge to raise funds last season another group of junior players, coaches and some parents recently cycled from Bierspool, across the Cleddau Bridge and along the old railway track at Neyland , (now a lovely place to cycle or walk), through Johnston to Haverfordwest and back.
The players again revelled in the challenge as they were closely monitored by their elders and an enjoyable day out was nicely rounded off with all returning to the Quins’ clubhouse to celebrate a job well done.
