County slam ten and a hat-trick for Sam!
Pembroke County 10 - Neath 2
County’s last game before the Christmas break saw them play against an unusual weakened Neath team at home – and slam home ten goals in the process from a terrific all-round team performance!
Expansive passing from one side of the pitch to the other, with Darren Cole positioning himself at the top left hand side of the D for an excellent strike that rocketed in to the back of the visitor’s goal put County 1-0 up. Good battling with a reverse stick tap in by Danny Pryke in the D doubled County’s lead before Scott Lewis put County 3-0 ahead, sweeping a crossed ball into the goal, but just before half time Neath clawed a goal back from a short corner.
Goals galore
In the second period, County aimed to be more clinical and increased the speed of their play with Sam Young contributing a hat-trick of goals, starting with a swept shot from the top of the D, a reverse stick strike and a clinical strike after great play from James Greenhalgh. Mark Brimbacombe converted a penalty flick and then doubled his goal tally for the day with a superb angled strike from the bottom right hand side of the D.
Neath still managed to hit County on the break to get their second goal before Ed Clements, after receiving a pass from Gavin Bernard, turned his marker and swept the ball into the goal for County’s ninth goal, with a quick hit out from the back through James Greenhalgh and a crossed pass from Mark Brimbacombe to Dylan Williams rounding off County’s 10-2 victory as an early Christmas present for Pembroke County’s hard-working squad.
