Maximum points for Schools Under 11s
Pembrokeshire Primary Schools’ talented under 11 footballers entertained their counterparts from Caerphilly in the Tom Yeoman Shield at Camrose AFC last Sunday and came away with four wins from as many matches as their reward for playing some excellent football where they scored 19 goals and conceded just one.
Pembrokeshire A 2 - Caerphilly A 0
Pembs started brightly and attacked the Caerphilly goal right from the kick off. Jonathan Walters and Ben Fawcett went close on several occasions but were thwarted by a good Caerphilly keeper. Team captain Cameron Thomas led by example and worked hard for the whole game, Jay Power had a very good debut in midfield and the Pembs defence of Zac Rowell, Jack Ackerman and Harry Rossiter stood firm. Stephen Varney once again kept a clean sheet in goal and Tate Lawrence and Kian Lee slotted in well when they came on at half time. Fawcett scored a well deserved goal in the second half after heading in a Lawrence cross, with Thomas adding the second soon after.
Pembrokeshire A 4 - Caerphilly B 0
The second game saw some good passing football as the whole squad worked well. Pembs were awarded several free kicks and good movement allowed Thomas to score twice. Walters added Pembs third with a low drive and Rowell went on a dazzling run to slot home Pembs fourth.
Pembrokeshire B 6 - Caerphilly B 0
The Pembs boys continued where they left off from the previous round of matches as Jake Houston scored very early on and this set the pattern for the match. Jack Wilson scored a superb hat-trick before Houston scored again, whilst Max Bowman-Davies rounded off the game by scoring on his debut. Travis Johnson made some good saves and Rhys Morgan, John Mansbridge and Elliott Wherrett all had scoring chances despite playing in defence. Lewys Tee, Cieran Rees and Jack Scriven all contributed well to an exciting match.
Pembrokeshire B 7 - Caerphilly A 1
Goals came thick and fast, starting with a Caerphilly own goal from a Pembs cross. Morgan got on the score sheet by scoring twice, as did Houston, who played extremely well in both games. Wilson added Pembs’ sixth before Caerphilly scored a consolation goal. Pembs striker Rees has the last word by scoring a well worked goal in what was again a superb team performance.
