County too Tough for Swansea Bay
Pembroke County 8 - Swansea Bay B 1
Pembroke County Hockey Club faced Swansea Bay B at home, with four goals by Paul Tough helping to set up another big win for the in-form County team.
The visiting team, travelling with a mix of experienced seniors and skilful youth players, went on the attack early but County pushed back, only to lose possession immediately. County next used possession of the ball to move it up through the pitch with Sam Young putting County ahead by shooting from the right side of the D, over the keeper into the goal. Swansea next equalised through gaining a short corner with their shot crashing into the back of the goal.
A well worked County move saw Paul Tough on the right corner of the pitch crossing the ball into the D to find Jack Pinson, who swept the ball into the back of the goal, putting county ahead 2-1. Immediate pressure on Swansea’s push back saw County retake the ball and drive into Swansea’s D, with the ball slipped left past the keeper to Sam Young, who scored his second goal.
County pressure pays off
After half time, County applied more pressure to Swansea through working the ball down the right side more, through right back Nicholas Brookes and right wing Danny Pryke, but with Paul Jewell also making explosive and skilful runs through the middle. James Greenhalgh next set Sam Young up for him to complete his hat-rick. Paul Tough increased his tally to four goals through good pressure in the D and sharp shooting with goals coming from his reverse stick shooting and close shots on goal that proved too much from Swansea.
