Beat the Expert - Week 3 : fixtures for 29th October 2011

The Expert holds onto two point lead over Crafty Chris going into tense final week

The Expert held onto his two-point advantage going into the final week of predictions. Both incredibly got every result right as it finished 7-7, but The Expert still leads overall by 17-15 total. "Crafty Chris is improving," taunted The Expert. "If he gets them all correct next week he could even beat me - perish the thought!" So next week's forecasts is a winner takes all scenario. Will Crafty Chris win a coveted 'Beat The Expert' tee-shirt? "Can't see it," added The Expert.

Mr T falls another point behind!

Bill Carne & Micky PhillipsThe Expert again edged through by a point against our special guest, Mr Chris Tansey, of Manderwood Timber Engineering Ltd, but was full of it as he said that Mr T was finished now, even though they are only at the half way stage of the four-week tipping test.

He was probably wound up by the fact that Micky Phillips received his special ‘I Beat The Expert’ tee shirt from Bill Carne at a presentation last weekend. Our resident ‘Mr Grumpy’ had half-promised that he would come along and shake hands with Micky but suddenly developed a slight cold that kept him firmly indoors. It certainly affected his hearing because he was told that the new tee-shirts, to be awarded in future to anyone who beats The Expert, came from generous sponsors Naomi and Steve Joseph, of West Coast – but he was somehow under the impression that they had been bought by pembrokeshirersport.co.uk!

The Expert told us,

“Mr T still thinks he is in with a chance and was seen in M & S in Haverfordwest on Sunday, poring over the local papers whilst his much better half, who I think knows more about football then he does now, was spending his cash. He would have been far better off watching a bit more football instead of gallivanting off to Llanelli to watch that other game they play there – and there is talk amongst his minions that he has lost his old magic touch.

“I repeat my message. Mr T – be warned – you are struggling and I sense a bit of panic in this week’s predictions!”

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!

Division One Matches (Results to appear here on Saturday evening):

Division One:

Goodwick United 2 - Pennar Robins 0

Hundleton 2 - Merlins Bridge 3

Johnston 5 - Haverfordwest County 1

Monkton Swifts 6 - Milford United 2

Narberth 0 - Hakin United 4

Neyland 6 - Solva 0

Tenby 5 - Clarbeston Road 1

Crafty Chris’s Forecasts:

Goodwick United 1 - Pennar Robins 0
I changed my mind several times before letting my heart rule my head and going for Bernie’s Boys. Pennar are a good side but after their disaster last Saturday I think Goodwick will bounce back.

Hundleton 1 - Merlins Bridge 3
The Bridge are playing well and banging the goals in so I go for them – although Hundleton are a danger with home advantage!

Johnston 2 - Haverfordwest County 1
Johnston usually do well at home and I think they might just be too strong for Haverfordwest County at Glebelands, so I’ve gone for a win by the odd goal in three.

Monkton Swifts 3 - Milford United 1
Milford United caused the shock result of the season last week but they are playing a good Monkton Swifts’ side which might just be too good for them, especially at Monkton Lane.

Narberth 1 - Hakin United 2
This is another tough one because Narberth are a useful side and Hakin are leaking goals at the moment, but managing to still score more goals than their opponents, as I think they will just about do at Jesse Road.

Neyland 2 - Solva 0
My Neyland ‘spy’ has assured me that they are back to a bit of form so I’ll go for them against Solva, but more in hope than anticipation!

Tenby 3 - Clarbeston Road 2
This could be one of the most entertaining matches of the day because both score plenty of goals – and in the end I have again gone for home advantage to see Tenby win – but only just!

The Expert’s Scorecasts:

Goodwick United 2 - Pennar Robins 1

Hundleton 1 - Merlins Bridge 3

Johnston 3 - Haverfordwest County 1

Monkton Swifts 4 - Milford United 0

Narberth 1 - Hakin United 4

Neyland 4 - Solva 2

Tenby 4 - Clarbeston Road 1

Saturday's score :

The Expert 7           Mr T 7

Scores So Far:

The Expert 17           Mr T 15
