Beat the Expert - Week 2 - fixtures for 22nd October 2011

The Expert opens up a two-point lead over Crafty Chris

The Expert beat Crafty Chris 6-5 to take an overall 10-8 lead after the second week of predictions. It was a high scoring affair with The Expert using his superior local knowledge to keep Mr T (he’s saying that he is not having any help – that’s a laugh!) and his cronies at arms length. "He's starting to crack," taunted The Expert. "He has to get it right next week - or he can kiss goodbye to beating me." Bill Carne of Pembrokeshiresport.co.uk has bought a brand new batch of 'Beat The Expert' tee shirts after I lost to Micky Phillips. "Bill you are wasting your money on purchasing those tee shirts, cause no-one else will beat me this season," added The Expert.

Chris TanseyIs Mr T in trouble already?

The Expert says Yes!

The Expert was back to his most horrible best on Saturday as he not only edged through by a point against our welcome guest, Mr Chris Tansey, of Manderwood Timber Engineering Ltd, but was full of scorn for his opponent.

It’s a fact that Chris is one of the best managers to come out of Pembrokeshire over recent decades and it seems that our resident ‘Mr Grumpy’ is already trying to unsettle his opponent in this so-called friendly tipping competition.

“Don’t forget,” said The Expert, “I have beaten him comfortably before, on his own and with his underlings joining him.”

“He said that he wanted to catch me when I am already on the run,” said our resident tipster “but my mole in Manderwood’s, who can get me top-class info whenever I want it, has told me that he has been offered loads of advice from kids like Sean Hannon (Neyland), Skinny Harding and Scott Davies (Hakin United) and even old-timers like Shaun Mills, Dai Malloy and Paul Chapman, who are former Vikings but haven’t got a clue about local football now!”

“I also spoke to my friend in his family and she told me he has spent hours sitting in the loo with a pen and paper, poring over results, but she doesn’t really mind because they are posh and have two toilets. He’s even refused the treat of a coffee in M & S in Haverfordwest because he’s too busy studying form!”

“Mr T – be warned – you are already on the run and things can only get worse from here!”

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!

Division One Matches (Results to appear here on Saturday evening):

Division One:

Clarbeston Road 6 - Johnston 5

Hakin United 7 - Tenby 5

Haverfordwest County 1 - Hundleton 0

Merlins Bridge 2 - Neyland 0

Milford United 1 - Goodwick United 0

Monkton Swifts 0 - Narberth 2

Pennar Robins 2 - Solva 0

Crafty Chris’s  Forecasts:

Clarbeston Road 2 - Johnston 1
This is a mid-table clash and could go either way but I hear that Clarbie have been playing well and so I’ll go for them by the odd goal in three.

Hakin United 4 - Tenby 1
Tenby had a good result in beating Monkton and Hakin didn’t score the goals for me last weekend – but I still they will win again and perhaps score plenty of goals.

Haverfordwest County 2 - Hundleton 1
Haverfordwest are starting to pick up a bit and with a few new recruits in their first team may be strengthened in Pembrokeshire – so I’ll go for them by a single goal.

Merlins Bridge 3 - Neyland 1
My mole in Neyland let me down last Saturday and he tells me they will be short of a few players in this match – but I think the Bridge would be too strong for them anyhow!

Milford United 1 - Goodwick United 3
Milford United are beginning to settle but Goodwick should be too strong for them if they play to their potential, as I think they will.

Monkton Swifts 2 - Narberth 1
This is another hard match to predict and could go either way – so I’ll plump for home advantage and pick the Swifts.

Pennar Robins 3 - Solva 0
I’m told that Pennar are playing quite well and they should be good value for victory at Bush Camp, although Solva are no mugs.

The Expert’s Scorecasts:

Clarbeston Road 3 - Johnston 1

Hakin United 5 - Tenby 2

Haverfordwest County 3 - Hundleton 1

Merlins Bridge 3 - Neyland 2

Milford United 0 - Goodwick United 3

Monkton Swifts 1 - Narberth 3

Pennar Robins 4 - Solva 2

 Saturday's scores :
The Expert 6            Mr T 5

Scores So Far:
The Expert: 10         Mr T: 8
