Young gymnasts reach new level
At a recent Artistic Gymnastics Event held at the City of Swansea Gymnastics Centre, four young Pembrokeshire gymnasts excelled. In the level 7 category (which involves 5 and 6 year olds competing on Floor, Bars, Beam, Vault and Range & Conditioning exercises), Haverfordwest Gym Club dominated, with Seren Rowland-Higgons claiming the overall 5th position, Ffion Roberts the Bronze Title and Lucy Jenkins finishing with the silver overall.
To have three gymnasts finishing in the top six out of all the West Area is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the work of the gymnasts and their coaches Suzanne Wakefield and Jadie Edwards.
Isla’s efforts are recognised
Later on that day Isla Davies aged 7 competed in the Intermediate Championships,
a section introduced for those gymnasts showing excellent promise in their field. Isla finished a respectable fourth and was the only gymnast from Pembrokeshire to be eligible to compete in such an event. A week later she was then selected to compete in the Welsh Championships, held at the National Sports Centre of Wales. The competition was very stiff with a lot of talented gymnasts on display. Isla’s highest achievement was 10th place on bars.
Finally, we want to congratulate Seren, FFion, Lucy, Isla and Scarlett Morris for undergoing another Welsh Squad Trial and wish them the best of luck for when the results come out this month. For any further information on becoming involved in the club please ring 01437 890239.

West Wales Gymnastics Championships
Recently the West Wales Artistic Gymnastics championships took place at the City of Swansea Gymnastics Centre and there was success for a young gymnast Ellen Dalling.
This competition is designed to showcase the best elite gymnasts at their respective level throughout Wales on Beam, Bars, floor, vault and a Range & Conditioning exercise.
Ellen was awarded the overall Bronze position at level 6, and she also gained a bronze medal on vault, bars and beam and a silver medal on floor. Ellen, who lives in Scleddau, is now a member of the City of Swansea Gymnastics Centre and travels to train there 3-4 times a week and is also a member of the Welsh Gymnastics Squad where she is required to train in Cardiff once a month. Ellen and her family show excellent commitment to the sport and the travelling involved to ensure Ellen can continue to achieve is enormous. Well done Ellen and keep up the hard work as your recent success shows it does pay off.
