Beat the Expert Feature : Week 1 - fixtures for 15th October 2011

The Expert narrowly beats Mr T  and vows to keep undercover 'Manderwood Crew' at bay

The Expert returned to winning ways this week with a slender 4-3 victory over Mr T. The Expert who was annoyed he lost to Mickey Phillips last week. This is the third or even fourth time that the undercover 'Manderwood Crew' have taken on The Expert - and on each occasion they have lost. "I took my eye off the ball and I am annoyed I lost to Micky," said The Expert. "Mr T is now pretending that he is not having any help from his Manderwood work colleagues. Does he take me for a fool? I know Hakin striker Skinny Harding and that Neyland player the Hannon twin is definitely giving him some inside information - but what do they know about local footie? I'll answer that - absolutely sweet nothing."

Chris Tansey

The Expert welcomes Chris Tansey with some well-chosen words!

Our popular feature continues with a bang as our resident ‘Top Tipster' takes on an old enemy from the Manderwood Mob, the firm’s boss, Chris Tansey, who was a very good footballer in his day with Hakin United and arguably the most successful manager in the league when he took over the Vikings’ reins for a decade.

It is no secret that The Expert is still smarting about his defeat by Micky Phillips, a former player with Johnston, Solva and Haverfordwest Cricket Club, as well as being a busy official in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League and a referee in the Carmarthenshire League.

The Expert was very magnanimous regarding the rare bashing that he took from a gentleman of sport, only the third time it has happened in three years, but is already seeking a rematch at a later date.

He was also originally pleasant about taking on Mr Tansey, another sportsman he apparently holds in high regard – but that will quickly change if our challenger takes an early lead in the four-week series of matches! His attitude has already altered somewhat because his Manderwood Mole has told our ‘Mr Grumpy’  that Mr T wanted to take on our tipster on his own, rather than have his underlings join him.

“He said that he wanted to catch me when I am already on the run,” said our man, “but just remember Mr T – a tiger is always at its most dangerous when it is cornered!”

“We’ll soon see if you can improve on the previous hammerings I have given you, with or without your skivvies in work!”

Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!

Division One Matches (Results to appear here on Saturday evening):

Hakin United 2 - Haverfordwest County 0

Hundleton 2 - Clarbeston Road 4

Johnston 4 - Narberth 4

Merlins Bridge 4 - Goodwick United 3

Neyland 3 - Pennar Robins 3

Solva 4 - Milford United 1

Tenby 1 - Monkton Swifts 0

Crafty Chris’s  Forecasts:

Hakin United 6 - Haverfordwest County 1
I watched Hakin play last week and they looked full of goals, whilst Haverfordwest County are definitely not firing on all cylinders – so it looks like an easy win for the Vikings.

Hundleton 3 - Clarbeston Road 1
Hundleton are strong at home and although Clarbie have been playing quite well I think this should be a home win.

Johnston 1 - Narberth 2
I really wasn’t sure where to go here and although Narberth had a thumping in the cup I think they might just snatch a result here, although it is bound to be tight.

Merlins Bridge 2 - Goodwick United 1
At first I picked Goodwick but then decided I was just letting my heart rule my head because my pal Bernie Armstrong is involved. You can’t do that with The Expert lurking so I have gone for the Bridge with home advantage!

Neyland 2 - Pennar Robins 1
This is another game that could go either way but Neyland are playing well and my mole in their camp says that all their players are fit and raring to go. I hope he’s got it right!

Solva 2 - Milford United 0
I feel that this is a bit of a banker home bet but have picked by Solva by only two goals because Milford United are slowly adapting to this section and will battle hard.

Tenby 1 - Monkton Swifts 4
The Swifts seem to be in good nick whilst Tenby are certainly not yet the side they were last season. So although Tenby are playing at home I think the Swifts will be too sharp for them.

The Expert’s Scorecasts:

Hakin United 5 - Haverfordwest County 0

Hundleton 4 - Clarbeston Road 2

Johnston 1 - Narberth 3

Merlins Bridge 3 - Goodwick United 1

Neyland 1 - Pennar Robins 3

Solva 3 - Milford United 1

Tenby 3 - Monkton Swifts 1

Score:

The Expert: 4        Chris Tansey 3
