Fixtures for 15th October 2011

(..to results page for these fixtures..)

Division One (West):

Narberth v Ammanford
Narberth seem unable to produce a settled string of results at present but would expect to return to winning ways with home advantage against Ammanford. Verdict: Ammanford are ninth, one below the Otters, and this should be a home win!

Tondu v Whitland
Whitland sit proudly atop the section table but face a tough tussle against tenth-placed Tondu, who are traditionally strong at home. Verdict: I think the Borderers will win but it might be closer than the form book would suggest!

Division Two (West):

Loughor v Crymych
This is sure to be another daunting task for Crymych as they seek to pick up their first points against a team who are currently seventh but have 11 points in the bag from two wins and three losses. Verdict: I have to go for Loughor, although I really hope the Preseli Men prove me wrong.

Division Three (West):

Cardigan v Gorseinon
Cardigan lost at Dunvant last Saturday so will be looking to bounce back against a Gorseinon team that has only won once in five starts. Verdict: One of my banker bets of the day – Cardigan to win here!

Haverfordwest v Dunvant
I watched Haverfordwest beat Tenby last weekend and they look a very strong side indeed, whilst Dunvant won well at home to Cardigan so will be full of confidence for this match. Verdict: Another banker bet as far as I’m concerned – the Blues to win with a little in hand!

Newcastle Emlyn v Tenby United
This match features two clubs who need the points as Emlyn are tenth in the table and Tenby are just above them. Verdict: If Tenby play like they did against Haverfordwest they could win this – but I have to go for Emlyn to edge it!

Division Four (west):

Betws v Neyland
This is a real basement battle as both teams have lost all their matches, but Neyland have two bonus points to Bynea’s one. Verdict: If the All Blacks have anything like a full side they could pick up their first win – and I think they might just do it!

Hendy v Milford Haven
Hendy and Milford Haven are seventh and sixth respectively in the section table so a close match is in prospect, as long as the Mariners have their best side out. Verdict: Mackie’s Boys are not the best travellers and although I hope they prove me wrong I’ll for Hendy and their big pack!

Division Five (West):

Fishguard v Bynea
Fishguard are one of the strongest sides in the division and entertain struggling Bynea, currently at the foot of the table with five defeats and just one bonus point. Verdict: No doubt about it – a big Seagulls’ victory in this one!

Llangwm v St Clears
Llangwm suffered a huge loss in the Swalec Bowl but have done reasonably well in the league, especially at home. Now they entertain front-runners St Clears, who have 21 points from their five wins in a row. Verdict: This should be a Saints’ success – especially since the Wasps have so many players out at the moment!

Nantgaredig v St Davids
St Davids are still seeking their first win of the season and a trip to promoted Nantgaredig isn’t quite what they wanted at this stage because the hosts have won three out of five starts and have 15 points to the Saints’ none. Verdict: Sadly, this has to be a Nantgaredig success!

Pembroke Dock Quins v Penygroes
The Quins played really well against Llanybydder in the Swalec Cup and now face a Penygroes side which has won three out of five league games so far. Verdict: The Quins could snatch this result if they were at full strength but I think Penygroes will pouch the points.

Swansea Uplands v Pembroke
Swansea Uplands have been one of the surprise sides because, like Pembroke, they have won four and lost just one game so far. Verdict: I think the Uplands will be confident but if the Scarlets have a full squad they could well snatch the victory they need to keep close to the top.
