Fixtures for 8th October 2011
Division One (West):
(..to results page for these fixtures..)
Whitland v Waunarlwydd
This could be the match of the day since they have identical records of won three, drawn one and lost one, with The Borderers third and ‘One Eyelid’ second.
Verdict: This is a real teaser but I think the Borderers might just shade things with home advantage.
Llangennech v Narberth
Narberth showed their ability to fight back last weekend but they must learn to come out of the blocks quicker or Llangennech will make them pay.
Verdict: The homesters have won three times from five starts so this is no cakewalk for the Otters, whom I think might just shade the verdict if they are on top form.
Division Two (West):
Crymych v Kidwelly
Crymych are still seeking their first points of a tough season whilst Kidwelly sit above them in eighth place, having beaten Aberystwyth and Loughor but lost to Aberavon Quins and Kenfig Hill.
Verdict: This is a crunch match for the Preseli men and could well see them gain a first win if they are at full strength.
Division Three (West):
Tenby United v Haverfordwest
Tenby United will be looking to be the first team to lower Haverfordwest’s colours as they play at Heywood Lane. The Seasiders have so far only won once whilst the Blues have a 100% record in their four games.
Verdict: The Blues didn’t play last Saturday so they will be nicely rested – and I think just a little too strong for the home side!
Dunvant v Cardigan
Cardigan have been playing really well of late and scored over 50 points at home against Tenby last Saturday, but know that playing at Dunvant is a different kettle of fish
! Verdict: Dunvant have won two matches so far and will be eager for victory but I hope the Teifisiders will have too much fire-power for them where it counts.
Swalec Bowl – Round One:
Fishguard v Mynnydd y Garreg
Fishguard have been playing well of late in Division Five (West) whilst their opponents Mynnydd y Garreg are currently eighth in Division Six (West), having lost four out of five games so far.
Verdict: If the Seagulls lose here it would prove to be one of the big shocks of the round – and I don’t think that will happen!
Llangwm v Aberaeron
Llangwm are finding it hard going trying to field a settled side and a heavy defeat at Pembroke last Saturday so them with just 15 players, whilst Aberaeron lost at Milford Haven in Division Four (West).
Verdict: Aberaeron are currently 10th, with just one league win from five starts, but should be too experienced for a youthful Wasps’ outfit who have won three and lost two of their matches in Division Five (West)..
Llanybydder v Pembroke Dock Quins
Llanybydder play one section above the Quins in Division Four (West) and stand ninth in the table but having won two out of four matches, whilst the Quins are still seeking their first success of the campaign.
Verdict: It has to be Llanybydder in what is a transition period for the Black and Whites.
