Under 15s make impressive start
Bridgend Schools 0 - Pembrokeshire Schools 1
Pembrokeshire Schools made an impressive start in the new age-group set-up as they made the journey to Maesteg and came away with a win over Bridgend Schools.
Pembs went into an early lead through Gwion Howells, and other first half attacks saw Bradley Hewett and Keegan Summers look dangerous on occasions. The Pembrokeshire defence was well marshalled by Owen Coombs and Bradley Davies who controlled the middle of the pitch, while Alex Hay marked very effectively.
The visitors’ attacks along the touchlines were a feature of their play and a brilliant cross by Louis Morgan had the Bridgend defence fully stretched. Pembrokeshire tried hard to control the mid-field play against top opposition, and cut out the danger in central areas, leaving Daniel Evans a spectator in the visitor’s goal for long periods.
Breath-taking second half
The second half was breathtakingly fast as both sides produced counter attacks with both goalkeepers having to dive full length to save. Scott Ferney came close to adding to the lead on two occasions and Gwion Howell linked well with Aiden Rainbow and Marcus Blair to keep the home team at bay when they were desperate to equalise.
Frantic blocking, goal-line clearances and heroics by Daniel Evans enabled the Pembrokeshire defence to keep their lead intact and earn an impressive 1-0 win.
