Cole is still king
of Karting races
With the season’s finale in sight, Jason Cole took another commanding win on a drying track in the fourth Round of the Pembrokeshire Karting Championship. Despite coming under pressure from Kieran Davies and Sam Joseph, Cole crossed the line in first place, leaving him requiring a handful of points in the next event to claim the title.
The waterlogged track caught everyone off guard in the opening heats, but as the rainclouds dispersed, the drivers found their pace. Championship contender Adam R Jones was set to challenge Cole in a thrilling final but suffered a blow when an overtaking manoeuvre in his semi-final went terribly wrong, denying him a chance to chase valuable points.
Nigel Morgan and Matthew Cole took advantage of the drying racing line and finished fourth and fifth respectively. Despite spending much of his heats on off-track excursions, Royston Badham took a third in his semi-final to squeeze himself into the last place of the final, but failed to capitalise and finished sixth.
Elsewhere, Jeff Pritchard regained the lead in the Business Finance Wales ‘Rookie of the Year’ standings, placing himself just ahead of Adam G Jones and Kieran Davies. With the rain hampering everyone’s chances to post a record-breaking lap time, Sam Joseph remains top of the Smith & Jones Electrical ‘Fastest Lap Challenge’.
The final round of the season will take place October 2 at the Carew Karting Racetrack. If you are interested in participating, sign up at www.pembrokeshirekarting.co.uk.
