Beat the Expert Feature - Week 1
Impressive Micky Phillips finishes all square with The Expert
Micky Phillips drew 6-6 with The Expert after Saturday's Division One results. Micky impressively correctly got two right scorelines and the Expert got one. It looks as though the county's top administrator will be a tough nut to crack. "I expected Micky to be good with figures as he's a top administrator," said The Expert. "I'm impressed he had two correct scores, but I'll put that down to beginner's luck!" Make sure you log on to see next week's set of predictions - it's a battle that will surely go down to the wire.
The Expert v Micky Phillips
Our popular feature comes back with a bang as our resident ‘Mr Grumpy’ will pit his wits against old enemies like the Manderwood Mob, but initially takes on a new challenger in Micky Phillips, a former player with Johnston, Solva and Haverfordwest Cricket Club, as well as being a busy official in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League and a referee in the Carmarthenshire League.
The Expert clearly has a lot of respect for Mr P because he said that for a change he was looking forward to a challenge from a gentleman of sport – but that will quickly change if our challenger takes an early lead in the four-week series of matches!
Remember the format – there is one point for a correct forecast and a bonus point for getting the scoreline correct!

Saturday 17th September 2011
Division One Matches:
Goodwick United 5 - Clarbeston Road 2
Hundleton 1 - Haverfordwest County 2
Milford United 0 - Neyland 2
Narberth 1 - Merlins Bridge 2
Pennar Robins 3 - Monkton Swifts 0
Solva 2 - Johnston 4
Micky’s Mighty forecasts:
Goodwick United 3 - Clarbeston Road 1
The sides have already met drawing 2-2. Clarby had a great win against the Swifts last week whilst Goodwick’s only defeat this year has also come against the Swifts. However I’ll go for a Goodwick win 3-1.
Hundleton 1 - Haverfordwest County 2
Hundleton have had back to back defeats whilst Derek Roberts will be very disappointed in the County’s results so far this year. Haverfordwest did the double over their opponents last season and I expect a narrow Haverfordwest win 1-2.
Milford United 0 - Neyland 2
Milford have found the return to division 1 tough, whilst Neyland’s only defeats this year have come at the hands of Hakin United. The sides have already met with Neyland winning 8-3. I see it being a lot closer but will go for a Neyland win 2-0.
Narberth 2 - Merlins Bridge 2
Both sides have lost only once this year both by the odd goal. The Bridge did the double last year with two 5-1 successes. However I don’t see it being so one sided this year and will go for a 2-2 draw.
Pennar Robins 2 - Monkton Swifts 2
This could be classic with both sides evenly matched. The Robins have lost their last two with the Swifts suffering their first defeat at Clarby last week. Games are historically close between these two so I’ll go for a 2-2 draw.
Solva 1 - Johnston 2
Two of my old teams here so I better be careful with my prediction! Last year the sides recorded a win each by the same scoreline 3-2. Luckily I’ve seen both sides play this year and was slightly more impressed with Johnston. As a result I’ll go for a 2-1 win to Johnston.
The Expert’s Scorecasts:
Goodwick United 5 - Clarbeston Road 1
Hundleton 1 - Haverfordwest County 3
Milford United 1 - Neyland 4
Narberth 2- Merlins Bridge 4
Pennar Robins 3 - Monkton Swifts 0
Solva 4 - Johnston 2
Score so far:
