‘Doc’ and ‘Windy’ top Paul & Janice Webb’s Cricket Stats

Simon Holliday (Haverfordwest) and Andrew Miller (Neyland) are the undoubted kings of Pembrokeshire Cricket in 2011 in terms of most runs and wickets as ‘Doc’ Holliday amassed a total of 940 runs and ‘Windy’ Miller claimed 42 wickets.
 
Holliday marked his first full season in local cricket with three league centuries, plus others in cup matches, with five 50s from 13 innings. He was not out on six of those occasions and finished with an amazing average of 134.28, surely the highest ever known in Pembrokeshire.
 
Simon Cole (Cresselly) was second with a superb 701 runs at an average of 53.92, whilst Paul Murray (Neyland) was close behind with 675 runs at an average of 48.21 and ‘Mr Reliable’ Nick Scourfield scored 640 runs in fourth place for Carew to end up with a slightly better average on 49.23.
 
In a season where the bat seemed to get the better of the ball there were no fewer than 13 centuries, three from Holliday with scores of 173, 154 and 144 – all not out as he dominated most innings for Haverfordwest. Paul Murray also scored two ‘tons’ and Tish’s Peter Bradshaw also deserves a mention because although he finished sixth in terms of runs scored if one looks at the averages he was in third spot with an excellent 51.81.
 
Miller leads by example
 
Andrew Miller’s 42 wickets saw him finish ahead of Lyn Richards (35) and Simon Wood (34), whilst only Matthew Davies (Whitland) picked up 30 wickets from the rest of the bowlers in the county. Only three bowlers managed to claim six wickets throughout the season as Simon Wood’s 6 for 7 was the best, followed by Matthew Phillips (Carew) and Lyn Richards as there were big wicket hauls that have featured in some other years.
 
Again, if one looked at pure averages then top of the heap would be Carew’s Scott Helmich, whose 24 scalps came at an average cost of 9.25, followed by Wood, Phillips and then Miller.
 
Top all-rounders
 
It is also interesting to note that only three players featured in both top 20 charts, with Steve Lewis (Lawrenny) ending up eighth in wicket-taking and 11th in batting. Nick Cope (Saundersfoot) was 18th in bowling but came ninth in the batting stakes – and Tish skipper Andrew Palmer came 12th in the wicket-takers and 16th in batting – so well done all three for your contribution to your clubs!
