Softball cricket festivals a great success
Under-nine cricket teams have had their first opportunity to participate in softball cricket festivals this summer in Pembrokeshire as sixteen teams took part in a series of festivals sponsored by Chevron and organised by Sport Pembrokeshire.
The clubs participating were: Carew (A and B), Cresselly, Neyland, Narberth (boys and girls), Hook, Whitland (A and B), Bosherston and Stackpole, Haverfordwest, Saundersfoot, Hundleton, Llechryd (A and B) and the County under-11 girls team.
First festival for many
The festivals gave boys and girls their first opportunity to participate in friendly cricket festivals, with the emphasis based on fun and enjoyment in a club environment
“It’s fantastic that children have this opportunity to get involved in cricket at such a young age which bodes well for retaining them in the strong club structure in Pembrokeshire in future years,” said Cricket Development Officer Matt Freeman.
He added:
“All the clubs that host the festivals do a fantastic job providing barbecues and refreshments, which makes it a real family day out. It is also a great way to showcase their respective clubs.”
