The Counties cup final umpires

The Pembrokeshire Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers have chosen their umpires to take part in the county’s cup finals for the 2011 season.

Pride of place in the Harrison-Allen Bowl Final, which is sponsored by Hugh Harrison-Allen, plus Ken, Michael and Roger at Thomas Scourfield and Sons, Carew, goes to Denis Chiffi and Arthur Brady, both experienced umpires who are held in high esteem by players and colleagues alike. For both it will be their first time of officiating at the Bowl Final and everyone will wish them an enjoyable day!

Old hands for the Duggie Morris Cup Final

Trefor Evans and John Williams are the umpires chosen for the Duggie Morris Cup Final, again sponsored by the family of the late DR Morris, and they are two of the most experienced, and respected umpires in the county, with Trefor as a former county club chairman and umpires’ Hon Treasurer and Training Officer. John is the current president of PACUS and has umpired up to Glamorgan 2nds three-day matches in the past.

Experience and new blood mix for the Alec Colley Cup Final

There is a mixture of experience and new blood in the Alec Colley Cup Final, which is sponsored by Dickie and Gill Parry, of Dyrham Service Station, Robeston Wathen. Dai Morris, who last umpired this competition in 2002, will be joined by Steve Blowes, one of the excellent new breed of umpires emerging from former players, and it should provide a nice balance that will serve both participating teams well.

Whitland umpires for the Ormond Youth Cup Final . .

In the Ormond Youth Cup Final, sponsored by Tony Pidgeon, it is Dave Brandon & Peter Perry who will take charge.

. . . and old hands for the Plate Final!

The Ormond Youth Plate competition sees two of the older fraternity in the middle as Les Hastings and Phil Marsden have been appointed. Les is the long-serving Hon Secretary of PACUS and another who has umpired at every final whilst no-one enjoys their role as umpire more than the livewire Mr Marsden!

Two Tonies take charge at Umpires’ own final

The honour of officiating at the Umpires’ own cup final, for the Alan Brown Trophy, went to Tony Scourfield and Tony Waldeis – and they were part of a very enjoyable day where St Clears beat Kilgetty at Whitland. Well done lads!
