County under 11s continue to play well

The County under 11s travelled to Aberdare recently to play Mid Glamorgan, looking to do the double after beating them at home in the last over, thanks to an excellent all-round team display.

 Batting first on a damp wicket, the county found runs very hard to come by and they lost wickets at regular intervals, except for captain Geraint Rees, who opening the batting, played very patiently for 35 overs and scoring 38 runs before finally being bowled by Ike Hurford, who ended with impressive figures of 4 for 16 in 6 overs.  No other batsman managed double figures and the county finished on 128 for 9, helped by 53 extras.

Excellent in the field

After tea Pembrokeshire took to the field thinking that the total set would probably be too small for a strong Mid Glam batting line up but with the bowlers bowling a good line and length, backed up with excellent fielding, they were able to restrict the home side to 93 all out, winning the game by 35 runs. The pick of the bowlers was Nick Jones who had figures of 4 for 9 and bowled with pace and accuracy, clean bowling three batsmen. Other wicket takers were Che Thomas and Niall Hooper (two wickets each) and Geraint Rees and Daniel Llewellyn (one each).

Another good win for County under 11s

The county under 11s recently travelled to play Llandovery College under 13s and maintained their good form as they came away with a convincing victory by 37 runs.

Winning the toss and electing to bat they had a steady start and after 13 overs the score stood at 38 -2 with Neyland’s Niall Hooper getting 13. They then lost their way a little and stuttered to 59 -8 after 18 overs with a combination of silly run outs, good fielding from the Llandovery side, and poor shot selection.

Luckily for the county Joe Mansfield from Llechryd came in at No 8  and played some excellent shots and finished on 23 not out. Helped at the end by Nick Jones (Burton) who ended on 12 not out, which left them on 141.

Pembs superb in the field

When Llandovery batted they too lost wickets at regular intervals and apart from Fraser Robinson (23 not out) no other batsman reached double figures. Pick of the county bowlers was Curtis Hicks, who ended with figures of 4 for 21. Other wicket takers Che Thomas (two wickets) with one wicket each for Nick Jones, Geraint Rees, Max Brindley and Niall Hooper. This left Llandovery all out for 104. Special mention must go to the fielding which on the day was first rate, with seven of the Llandovery batsmen being caught out.
