Congrats to the Cosh Cougars!

Cosheston CougarsCongratulations are certainly due to Cosheston Cougars because in their very first season in the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League they have won the Division Five title so early that league chairman Colin Williams was able to present the silverware to Andrew Brace and his players with a match still in hand.
At the time of going to press, the Cougars’ proud playing record read: P17 W16 D0 L1 F97 A22 Pts 48 and put them a huge 12 points in front of Neyland 2nds and West Dragons 2nds in the race for the title.

No one more delighted than Andrew

Small wonder then that Andrew Brace was delighted because he is currently chairman, hon secretary and team manager, whilst his wife Sherill is hon treasurer! Nathan Hearne is the assistant secretary and the Cougars are lucky to have good sponsorship from Cath and Ian Watters of Herbalife, Big Brum’s and MPI Homes. The club has risen like a phoenix from the ashes after Cosheston had previously stopped playing some time ago and there was no football in the village.

Goals galore – and one set-back

But all that certainly changed this campaign and lots of goals have certainly been the order of the day since they scored nine against both Lawrenny Seconds and Haverfordwest, eight against West Dragons,  plus seven in matches with Fishguard Sports, St Clears, Pembroke Borough and Pennar Robins. They also went nap when they took on the Boro again, West Dragons and Neyland, to keep their ‘goals for’ column ticking over nicely.
Leading the scoring has been Michael Ryder, who slammed in 29 goals, followed by Josh Dearsley and Wayne Boswell – whilst the man with least to do was goalkeeper Chris Lowe, since the Cougars only conceded 22 goals in the entire campaign.
It wasn’t quite all plain sailing however, since they lost 3-2 against Letterston – but they gained ample revenge by winning the return match by an amazing 10-1 scoreline!

Anticipating new challenges

So now it’s on to division four now for the Cougars and they are already anticipating that challenge – but in the meantime they are just delighted to have got Cosheston Cougars off to such a brilliant start!
