The Expert beats 'Priceless' in high-scoring affair

 

The Expert knew he had to be at his best to beat 'Priceless' who is the only tipster to have beaten him last year. Incredibly The Expert predicted seven out of seven right score casts with one correct score and 'Priceless' got six out of seven and one correct score. The Expert leads 8-7 in what promises to be a fight to the finish. "I know that he is on the ball," said The Expert. "And I will have to keep on my toes if I am going to beat him. I know there's a long way to go yet - but I have got off to a good start and it's not often I lose the lead - so watch out Pricey your card is marked!"

‘El Del’ falls by the wayside – and we have a ‘Priceless’ replacement!

 

The Expert finished off yet another tipping hopeful on Saturday as he eased home by 4-3 on the day against Derek ‘Rocko’ Roberts and was four points ahead over the four week period of their battle – and now takes on one of the new breed of managers in Matthew Price (Merlins Bridge).

‘Rocko’ gave it his best shot and he has some consolation in the fact that he has just become the only manager to take three different clubs to the Senior Cup Final – and also played in a double-winning side at Merlins Bridge as well as looking after them when he got too old to play.

            “He wasn’t a bad player,” said The Expert begrudgingly, “but his tipping was hopeless, even though I didn’t try so hard last Saturday just to give him a chance.

            “But now I have to wind myself up again for this Matthew What’s-his-name, who had the cheek to ask if he could challenge me because he edged home last season when the weather affected teams’ play and he was also getting help from Derek Roberts. They live next door to each other and he was cutting through the fence, cadging coffee off Byddug Roberts, and trying to get Rocko to help him out.”

‘Priceless’ oozes confidence

Matthew Price told us.

            “I’m delighted to be asked to take on the challenge again and there will be mo comparing notes with Derek because he’s too busy focussing on the Senior Cup Final. I think The Expert’s a little nervous of me because I think I am younger than him and still involved at close hand. He always goes for the safe bet and I’ve already picked a couple of surprise results to get off to a great start.”

Division One:

 

Goodwick United 2 - Neyland 2

This will cause a surprise but I really think that Neyland can get a draw here. They almost had a point against Hakin and they should be up for this match.

 

Hakin United 3 - Narberth 2

Hakin can score goals with their strike force but they are also giving more away than they used to so I think Narberth will push them all the way before  Hakin edge home.

 

Haverfordwest County 3 - Pennar Robins 1

Haverfordwest County are a very good young side and I think they will prove too strong for Pennar on the day.

 

Herbrandston 2 - Solva 1

This basement battle should be close and I thought long and hard about it before picking Herbie by the odd goal with home advantage.

 

Kilgetty 0 - Clarbeston Road 3

It was great to see Kilgetty win a game but their confidence must be shaken again after conceding eight goals last Saturday. Clarbie are improving so I think they will win with a little to spare.

 

Merlins Bridge 3 - Johnston 1

We know that this is a must-win situation for us and sometimes we play better that way. Johnston are a more than useful side but I think we can win here.

 

Tenby 1 - Hundleton 0

I expect this match to be tighter than their league positions might suggest – so I’ve gone for just one goal, scored by Tenby.
