The Expert humbles ‘El Del’

 

Derek Roberts lost 4-3 to the Expert in the final week of predictions and overall by a 15-11 margin. This is the second season on the trot that the Expert has beaten 'El Del' "Best thing he can stick to is manager of Haverfordwest County," said the Expert. "He'll never make any money in the betting shops - so stay well clear of the bookies. But the Expert showed his softer side when he said, "I was delighted for 'El Tel' this week, because his team Haverfordwest County beat Goodwick United to reach the Senior Cup Final for the first time since 1967 - Well done!" The Expert is sure to invite 'El Tel' to take him on again next season as he pointed out, "He's a gentleman, a scholar and a terrible tipster!"

 

 

‘El Del’ falls badly by the wayside

 

The Expert took the bull by the horns on Saturday as he beat Derek ‘El Del’ Roberts, the popular manager of the Pembrokeshire League team at Haverfordwest County, by a massive three points to go into the final round full of confidence.
To be fair to El Del he had given me the his forecasts during a break from cutting the grass at the Bridge Meadow and he sportingly conceded that he has great admiration for his opponent, whom he thinks he played football alongside as a boy – but he could be mistaken there.
            “I am a great deal younger than El Del,” growled our resident tipster “and his panic-stricken guesses about my identity are pure speculation.
            “He also told our editor that he had made random choices again this week but my Mole in the Bluebirds’ camp tells me that club chairman Rob Summons was at Chez Roberts for much of Sunday afternoon, allegedly fixing his computer virus. Apparently this dopey duo discussed the possible results at length before going out the back garden to admire the pink walls, pink pond and pink goldfish!  El Del might as well have asked his smashing wife Buddyg to pick his forecast, for all the good it will do him!”
So it all comes down to the results this Saturday and The Expert said,
            “It is true that I like El Del because he is a gentleman of sport but he knows when he is beaten and that is now!”

** PembrokeshireSport.co.uk has been approached this week by a young shaver of a manager who managed to ease through against our top tipster last season and wants to repeat the success. Just wait until The Expert finds out! **

El Del’s Forecasts

 

Clarbeston Road 2 - Narberth 1

Clarbeston Road have played well lately so I am hoping they can cause a surprise win here and help me close the gap on my opponent!

 

Haverfordwest County 5 - Herbrandston 0

Herbrandston struggled against Kilgetty but I expect them to have a stronger side against us – although I still think we can beat them comfortably.

 

Hundleton 3 - Pennar Robins 1

Pennar have gone off the boil a little so I am hoping that Hundleton will help me out!

 

Johnston 3 - Merlins Bridge 2

This could be the surprise result of the day because Johnston almost beat Hakin last weekend – and I expect them to edge through here!

 

Kilgetty 0 - Goodwick United 4

I was pleased that Kilgetty gained their first win last Saturday but I think they will find Goodwick in no mood to give them a chance.

 

Neyland 1 - Hakin United 3

Hakin are scoring plenty of goals but letting some in at the back so Neyland will have a chance – but I still think Gary Dawes will be celebrating another win for his boys.

 

Solva 2 - Tenby United 2

This is a tough one to forecast so I think I will just sit on the fence and go for a draw!
