Welsh Schools Soccer-under 11s (Tom Yeoman Shield):

County Schools Under 11s are superb

County U11sPembrokeshire v Aberystwyth

Pembrokeshire Schools played their penultimate round of the Tom Yeoman Shield against Aberystwyth at Bridge Meadow, Haverfordwest, on Sunday 6th March and they gained the maximum of 12 points to stay at the top of the Tom Yeoman South Wales League One.

The results of the matches were as follows:

Pembrokeshire A 1 -  Aberystwyth   A 0

Pembs A started off sluggishly and this was a very even game.  Aber forced some good defending by Jon Hill, Regan Pallas and Max Brindley while Nick Jones was commanding in the Pembs goal. Alaric Jones worked hard in the middle of the pitch and Zac Rowell and Cameron Thomas ran well up front, but goals were hard to come by.
Henry McBeth broke the deadlock in the second half with a scrappy goal and Geraint Blair almost put Pembs further ahead with a searing shot that just whizzed past the crossbar.  At the end of the game Pembs were happy to get the three points.

Pembrokeshire A 7 - Aberystwyth B 0

This was a much better game with all the Pembs players performing well. Ollie Wheeler scored the opening goal with Alaric Jones adding the second.  Ben Fawcett caused havoc on the right wing and was brought down several times. A resulting free kick saw Brindley head in at the near post. Then the goals came in thick and fast from Thomas, McBeth, Fawcett and Pallas. This was a very good squad performance.

Pembrokeshire B 8 - Aberystwyth   B 1

Pembs dominated the game, scoring two quick goals by Travis O’Connor and Curtis Hicks. Further goals followed by Dan Hopkins (3), Garin Gardner, Levi Jones and Rowan Nicolson before Aberystwyth scored a late consolation goal. This really was an excellent performance by the whole team.

Pembrokeshire B 4 - Aberystwyth A 2

This was a tougher game and the Pembs keeper, Travis Johnson, was called upon several times to thwart the Aber attacks. Jake Houston scored the opening goal after some good passing moves. O’Connor added the second and Hopkins put Pembs 3-0.  A lapse of concentration saw Aber pull one back to make it 3-1. Hicks responded well and added another before Aber’s determination resulted in a second goal. Elliott Wherrett showed a lot of composure in defence and Alex Varney made a good debut.

Pembrokeshire’s last round is against Aberystwyth away later on in the month and PembrokeshireSport.co.uk would like to congratulate all the players and coaches on doing so well!
