Fixtures for 19th February 2011
Division One (West):
Whitland v UWIC
UWIC travel to Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn in search of the double, having beaten the Borderers by 28-18 in Cardiff, but will find the home side a little stronger than it was then. Verdict: If the Borderers pack can play at its best then they can beat the students!Felinfoel v Narberth
Narberth will be pleased to have this rearranged match because they really do need to be getting on with playing rugby. Verdict: I think the Otters can win this one – if they really get into top gear!Division Three (West):
Haverfordwest v Mumbles
Haverfordwest weren’t at their best against Llandeilo and know that they will have to raise the tempo considerably against Mumbles because the visitors are second in the table with ten wins from 11 starts. Verdict: I would love to see the Blues return to winning ways but I have to go for Mumbles!Division Four (West):
Aberaeron v Pembroke Dock Quins
Aberaeron beat the Quins by 34-26 at Bierspool in an entertaining tussle and will be looking to build on their sixth spot in the section – whilst the Quins know they have to start winning to climb away from the foot of the table. Verdict: Sadly, I have to pick Aberaeron, although I hope Mike Scourfield’s boys prove me wrong!Betws v Milford Haven
Milford Haven travel to Betws in search of a league double since they beat Betws by 36-29 at The Observatory Field earlier in the season. Verdict: Betws are fourth in the table whilst the Mariners are 10th – but could climb up several places by winning here!Cardigan v Neyland
Matches between these old rivals are invariably close but Neyland traditionally don’t travel well. Cardigan played really well against Milford and will be looking to take another Pembrokeshire scalp here. Verdict: Cardigan must start as favourites to win here and I’ll go with them.Division Five (West):
Llangwm v Fishguard
Fishguard know they have to win this local derby because they are eager to stay in the title race and maintain their undefeated record, but Llangwm are strong at Pill Parks, as they proved in their win last week. Verdict: Fishguard won 18-12 at the Moors and they will do well to repeat that success here!Burry Port v Pembroke
Pembroke travel to Burry Port in search of revenge because this opposition edged home at Treleet by 15-13 as one of only two defeats for the Scarlets. Verdict: I hope Ossie Boswell has a strong squad to travel in search of maintaining top spot against their fourth-placed rivals – and then I expect Pembroke to win.Furnace v St Davids
urnace beat St Davids by 25-7 in Ty Ddewi and are still in contention for promotion as they sit in third place, whilst The Saints haven’t been firing on all cylinders. Verdict: I have to go for Furnace to win this one!
